2011–12 GET-ligaen Season
The 2011–12 GET-ligaen was the 73rd season of Norway's premier ice hockey league, Eliteserien (known as GET-ligaen for sponsorship reasons). The season began on 10 September 2011 with the final round of the regular season played on 1 March 2012. The Stavanger Oilers won their first league championship after beating Frisk Asker on 2 February 2012. With a total of 112 points, the Oilers broke the previous record of 108 points held by the Sparta Warriors (2011) and Storhamar Dragons (2006). Lørenskog finished as runners-up ahead of Vålerenga. The playoffs to determine the 2012 Norwegian champions began on 4 March 2012 and ended on 13 April 2012. Stavanger defeated Lørenskog by 4 games to 2 in the finals to claim their second Norwegian Championship title in three seasons. The playoffs were contested by the top eight teams in the regular season. Qualification for the final two berths in the 2012–13 GET-ligaen was held between 8 March and 24 March 2012. GET-ligaen
Eliteserien, known as Fjordkraftligaen due to sponsorship, is the premier Norwegian ice hockey league, organised by the Norwegian Ice Hockey Association. It comprises 10 clubs and works on the premise of promotion and relegation, in which the two teams who placed last must play the top two teams from First Division (the league ranked immediately below) for the rights to play in the next Eliteserie season. History The Norwegian Ice Hockey Association (NIHF) was founded on 16 September 1934. The same season also saw the debut of a national league for ice hockey. It was then known as 1. divisjon (''1st division''), a name it held until 1990, when the elite clubs broke away and formed a new top league, Eliteserien (''The Elite League''). Blake Evans
Blake Evans (born July 2, 1980) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey centre, who last played for Kyle Elks in the SVHL. Draft Born in Kindersley, Saskatchewan, Evans was drafted 251st overall by the Washington Capitals in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft but never played in the National Hockey League. Career Early career He started his career with the WHL team Spokane Chiefs in 1996. After one and a half season, he was traded to the Tri-City Americans (also in the WHL) along with Regan Darby for Zenith Komarniski on 6 October 1997. On 8 January 2001, he got traded to Regina Pats (WHL) along with Jeff Feniak for Shawn Belle, Joey Bastien, Justin Lucyshyn and future considerations. Patrick Coulombe
Patrick Coulombe (born April 23, 1985) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman who currently plays for the Ducs d'Angers of the French Ligue Magnus. Playing career As a youth, Coulombe played in the 1998 and 1999 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournaments with the Rimouski Océanic minor ice hockey team. Coulombe played junior ice hockey with the Rimouski Océanic of the QMJHL, joining them in 2001. In his draft year of 2002–03, he emerged as a key component of the Océanic blueline and was selected to represent Canada at the IIHF World U18 Championships. However, he was passed over in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft as he was judged to be too small to play defence effectively at the pro level. This would be the first of three times he would be passed over in the draft. Henrik Malmström (born August 26, 1978 in Kristianstad) is a retired Swedish professional ice hockey forward who last played for Sparta Warriors of the GET-ligaen in Norway. Malmström began his career in the Swedish HockeyAllsvenskan, the country's second tier league, playing for his hometown team Kristianstads IK before moving to the Elitserien with Malmö Redhawks where he spent four seasons. He had a brief spell with HV71 in 2002 before returning to Malmö. In 2003, he moved to Brynäs IF and stayed with the team until 2006 when he joined Frölunda HC midway through the 2006-07 season. Gino Guyer
Gino Guyer (born October 14, 1983, in Coleraine, Minnesota) is an American professional ice hockey centre. Draft Guyer was drafted 165th overall by the Dallas Stars in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. To date, he has yet to play in the National Hockey League. Career Early career After a standout career at Greenway High School, in which he was awarded the 2002 Minnesota Mr. Hockey award as the state's most outstanding high school player, Guyer was recruited by the University of Minnesota.
