2011–12 FIS Snowboard World Cup
The 2011–12 FIS Snowboard World Cup was a multi race tournament over a season for snowboarding. The season started on 28 August 2011 and ended on 17 March 2012. The World Cup was organised by the FIS which also runs world cups and championships in alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, ski jumping, Nordic combined, and freestyle skiing. The FIS Snowboarding World Cup consisted of the parallel slalom, snowboard cross and the halfpipe. The men's side of the world cup also consisted of three big air competitions. Janne Korpi (born in Vihti on 5 February 1986) is a Finnish snowboarder and harness racing driver. He is a three-time Olympian representing Finland in Snowboarding at the 2006 Winter Olympics, the 2010 Winter Olympics and the 2018 Winter Olympics. Half-pipe
A half-pipe is a structure used in gravity extreme sports such as snowboarding, skateboarding, skiing, freestyle BMX, skating, and scooter riding. Overview The structure resembles a cross-section of a swimming pool, essentially two concave ramps (or quarter-pipes), topped by copings and decks, facing each other across a flat transition, also known as a ''tranny''. Originally half-pipes were half sections of a large diameter pipe. Since the 1980s, half-pipes contain an extended ''flat bottom'' between the quarter-pipes. The original style half-pipes are no longer built. Flat ground provides time to regain balance after landing and more time to prepare for the next trick. Half-pipe applications include leisure recreation, skills development, competitive training, amateur and professional competition, demonstrations, and as an adjunct to other types of skills training. Andrey Sobolev
Andrey Andreyevich Sobolev (russian: Андрей Андреевич Соболев; born 27 November 1989) is a Russian snowboarder, specializing in Alpine snowboarding and formerly specializing in snowboard cross. He is the brother of Olympic snowboarder Natalia Soboleva, who is the silver medalist of the 2019 World Championships. Career Sobolev competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics for Russia. He was the top qualifier in the parallel giant slalom, but in the 1/8 finals, he lost to Austria's Andreas Prommegger, finishing 9th overall. He then failed to qualify for the elimination round in the parallel slalom, finishing 27th. As of September 2014, his best showing at the World Championships is 14th, in the 2013 parallel slalom. Siegfried "Sigi" Grabner (born 4 February 1975, in Waiern, Carinthia) is an Austrian professional snowboarder. At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy he won bronze in the Parallel Giant Slalom competition. Having won the Junior World Championship 1994 in Slovenia, he decided to go professional. He won the European Championship 1995 in Finland, and became part of the Burton Alpine Team. In 2003 he won the Parallel Giant Slalom World Championship in Kreischberg, Austria. Rok Flander (born 26 June 1979 in Kranj) is a Slovenian snowboarder. Flander is currently 3rd in the overall standings of the 2006-07 Snowboarding World Cup, having won a race in Kronplatz and finishing second in Sölden.
