FC Sheriff Tiraspol
Fotbal Club Sheriff (russian: ФК Шериф Тирасполь), commonly known as Sheriff Tiraspol or simply Sheriff, is a Moldovan professional football club based in Tiraspol, a city located in the unrecognised breakaway state of Transnistria. Founded in 1997 as ''Tiras Tiraspol'' and rebranded the following year as ''Sheriff'', it quickly established itself within Moldovan football. "The Wasps" recorded their debut in the first league in the 1998–99 season, when they also won their first trophy, the Moldovan Cup. They have since amassed twenty championship titles, eleven Cups and seven Super Cups–all competition records. Vazha Tarkhnishvili ( ka, ვაჟა თარხნიშვილი; born 25 August 1971 in Gori) is a retired Georgian–Moldovan footballer who played his last 13 years of activity as a defender for the Moldovan National Division club Sheriff Tiraspol. Miral Samardžić (born 17 February 1987) is a Slovenian footballer who plays as a centre-back for Ajman. Career Club Samardžić started playing football in his hometown Jesenice, aged 9. Moldova National Football Team
The Moldova national football team ( ro, Echipa națională de fotbal a Moldovei) represents Moldova in international football and is controlled by the Moldovan Football Federation, the governing body for football in Moldova. Moldova's home ground is Zimbru Stadium in Chișinău and their head coach is Serghei Cleșcenco. Shortly before the break-up of the Soviet Union, they played their first match against Georgia on 2 July 1991. Two of their three best results in the 1990s came during the qualifiers for UEFA Euro 1996, with wins over Georgia (1–0) in Tbilisi and Wales (3–2) in Chișinău.
