2011–12 Eredivisie (women)
The 2011–12 Eredivisie Vrouwen was the fifth season of the Netherlands women's professional football league. After a troubled build-up, the season took place from 2 September 2011 to 18 May 2012 with seven teams. Before the start of the season, on 30 August 2011, the BeNe Super Cup was played, a match where the Dutch champion FC Twente met Belgian champion Standard Liège. Twente lost the match 4–1. In sight of the cup a memorandum was signed by the Dutch and Belgian football associations to create an inter-country top-level league (BeNe League) to start as early as 2012–13. FC Twente entered the season as reigning champions and finished as runners-up, behind ADO Den Haag. It was ADO Den Haag's first championship after finishing runners-up in the previous three seasons. Eredivisie Vrouwen
The Vrouwen Eredivisie () (Dutch for ''Honor Division'', ''Eredivisie Vrouwen'' before 2020), also known as the Azerion Eredivisie Vrouwen due to a 3 year sponsor contract starting from the 2022–2023 season, is the highest women's football league in the Netherlands. Organized by the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) it was established in 2007 as a professional league and played for five seasons until 2012 when the leagues of the Netherlands and Belgium merged forming a single combined league (BeNe League). After three seasons the BeNe League folded and the Eredivisie was restarted in the 2015–16 season. The league winner receives a spot in the UEFA Women's Champions League. PSV Vrouwen (or PSV Women) is a Dutch women's football team representing PSV Eindhoven in the Eredivisie Vrouwen, the top women's league in the Netherlands. A founding member of the BeNe League in 2012, the team was known as PSV/FC Eindhoven and supported jointly by FC Eindhoven and PSV. The ADO Den Haag Stadium (known as the Bingoal Stadion for sponsorship reasons) is a multi-use stadium in The Hague, Netherlands, designed by Zwarts & Jansma Architects. Completed in 2007, the stadium is used mostly for football and field hockey. It is the home stadium of ADO Den Haag. It has a capacity of 15,000 people, and replaced ADO's former stadium Zuiderpark which was considerably smaller. Due to UEFA's sponsorship regulations, the stadium is named ADO Den Haag Stadium on European matches. It was previously also known as the Cars Jeans Stadion for sponsorship reasons. The Algemeen Nederlands Persbureau BV (ANP) is the largest news agency in the Netherlands. ANP was founded on 11 December 1934 by the association of Dutch newspapers (NDP). AZ (women's Football Club)
AZ or AZ Vrouwen was a women's association football club based in Alkmaar and the Zaanstreek, Netherlands. They were affiliated with the AZ (football club), AZ men's team. They were founder members of the Eredivisie (women), Eredivisie Vrouwen in 2007 and won the first three editions of the championship. In February 2011 AZ announced they were withdrawing support for their women's section, for financial reasons. Telstar (women), Telstar entered a team in the 2011–12 Eredivisie (women), 2011–12 women's Eredivisie and most of the AZ players signed for the newly formed club. PEC Zwolle Vrouwen is a Dutch women's football team from Zwolle. The team was founded in 2010, starting in the Eredivisie season 2010–11. The club was the first two seasons working together with Be Quick '28. Currently they are working together with SV Zwolle who is playing in the Hoofdklasse. VVV-Venlo (women)
VVV-Venlo is a Dutch women's football from Venlo. The team was founded in 2010, starting in the Eredivisie season 2010/11. The club is working together with SV Venray who is playing in the Hoofdklasse. Since 2011 VVV is working together with a German club FCR 2001 Duisburg. VVV-Venlo decided to stop playing in the Vrouwen Eredivisie/ BeNe League. Owing to the number of qualitative good female players in the Netherlands they foresee a team with insufficient quality. Eerste Divisie
The Eerste Divisie (, en, First Division) is the second-highest tier of football in the Netherlands. It is linked with the top-level Eredivisie and with the third-level Tweede Divisie via promotion/relegation systems. It is also known as the Keuken Kampioen Divisie due to sponsorship, while previously it was known as Jupiler League for the same reason. History The Eerste Divisie consists of 20 clubs, who play each other in a double round-robin league, with each club playing the other club home and away. Each club plays every other club once in the first half of the season before the league takes a winter break around the Christmas and New Year's holiday season. The second half of the season sees the same fixtures as the first half, with the stadiums changed, although the two halves are not played in the same order.
