2011–12 EIHL Season
The 2011–12 Elite Ice Hockey League season featured 10 teams. It started on 3 September 2011 and finished on 8 April 2012. The Fife Flyers replaced the Newcastle Vipers. Teams Elite League Table GP=Games Played W=Win, L=Lose, OTW=Over Time Wins, OTL=Over Time Loses, Pts=Points, Elite League play-offs After the two legged quarter finals the end of season playoffs were held at the National Ice Centre in Nottingham during the weekend of 7 and 8 April 2012. Regular season league winners Belfast Giants lost in the semi-finals to Cardiff Devils. The title was won by the Nottingham Panthers after defeating Cardiff Devils 2–0, the second successive time that Nottingham had beaten Cardiff in the final. Elite Ice Hockey League
The Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL), sometimes referred to as the British Elite League or, for sponsorship reasons, the Viaplay Elite League, is an ice hockey league in the United Kingdom. Formed in 2003 following the demise of the Ice Hockey Superleague, it is the highest level of ice hockey competition in the United Kingdom. The league operate three competitions for members; the play-offs determine the national champion for the season, following a regular season league competition for which separate champions are also crowned, and which selects and seeds the teams in the play-offs. Finally, a stand-alone cup competition, the Challenge Cup, is also held annually, beginning with the group stages followed by a knock-out format. Cardiff Devils
The Cardiff Devils are a Welsh ice hockey team who play in the British Elite Ice Hockey League. The team play at Ice Arena Wales in Cardiff Bay. Cardiff are the reigning EIHL play-off champions, winning their third title in a row after beating the Belfast Giants 6–3 at the 2022 EIHL play-off Final. Edinburgh Capitals
The Edinburgh Capitals are a Scottish ice hockey club, playing in the Scottish National League (SNL). They are based in the Scottish capital, Edinburgh. The team play at the Murrayfield Ice Rink, close to Murrayfield Rugby stadium. In April 2018, a consortium led by David Hand (brother of ex-Racer Tony) won the contract for ice time at Murrayfield, effectively rendering the Capitals homeless. The newly formed Murrayfield Racers applied to join the EIHL and take the Capitals' place but were rejected, plunging the future of top level ice hockey in the city into jeopardy. Dundee Ice Arena
Dundee Ice Arena is a multi-purpose ice rink arena located in the Camperdown area of Dundee. Dundee Stars
The Dundee Stars are a professional ice hockey team based in the Scottish city of Dundee. They were formed in 2001 and play their home games at the Dundee Ice Arena, situated off the city's main Kingsway dual carriageway. The current title sponsor of the team is 'Trade-Mart'. Dustin Wood (born May 21, 1981, in Scarborough, Toronto, Scarborough, Ontario) is a Canadians, Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman. Playing career He spent his amateur career in the Ontario Hockey League with the Peterborough Petes. Paul Thompson (ice Hockey, Born 1965)
Paul Thompson is a British ice hockey head coach and general manager. He was head coach of the Great Britain men's national ice hockey team from 2006 to 2011. As of 2018, he is the winningest coach in the Elite Ice Hockey League, and has received nine Coach of the Year trophies in his career. His teams have won three Challenge Cups, two British Knockout Cups, and he is the first coach to win five Elite League titles. Coventry Skydome is a 3,000-seat multi-purpose arena in Coventry, England. History Ice Hockey The arena is the current home of Elite League ice hockey franchise the Coventry Blaze. Coventry Blaze are an ice hockey team based in Coventry, England. They currently compete in the British Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) and play their home games at SkyDome Arena. Kenton Smith
Kenton Smith (born September 10, 1979) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. Playing career Smith began playing at major junior level for the Calgary Hitmen of the Western Hockey League (WHL) in 1995–96. He competed for the Hitmen for five seasons, establishing himself as a cornerstone of the team during that time. In 1998–99, he recorded 19 goals to establish a single-season team record by a defenceman (surpassed by Paul Postma's 23 goals in 2008–09), en route to leading his team to a President's Cup as WHL champions in 1999.
