The 2011–12 season was Crystal Palace's seventh consecutive season in the Championship. The previous campaign had seen club legend Dougie Freedman take over as a novice manager and lead the Eagles to safety and another season in the English second tier. Owen Garvan
Owen William Garvan (born 29 January 1988) is an Irish former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Garvan began his career in his native Ireland where he played for Home Farm as a schoolboy. He earned a move to England with Ipswich Town in 2004, where he helped his side to the FA Youth Cup Final in 2005. He made his professional debut in the 2005–06 season and went on to make 174 appearances for the club, scoring 15 goals. Steffen Iversen
Steffen Iversen (born 10 November 1976) is a Norwegian footballer who is player-manager for Norwegian 4th division side Trygg/Lade as a striker. He is the son of former Norway international Odd Iversen, one of Norway's most prolific goalscorers of all time. Iversen began his career as an 18-year-old at Rosenborg where he won two consecutive Norwegian league championships. He moved to Tottenham Hotspur in December 1996, where he scored 54 goals in seven years, and won the League Cup. Kagisho Evidence Dikgacoi (born 24 November 1984) is a South African retired professional footballer who is currently the manager of Witbank Spurs. He represented South Africa at international level. Patrick Richard McCarthy (born 31 May 1983) is an Irish former professional footballer who played as a centre-back. He is currently assistant manager of Premier League club Crystal Palace. David Wright (born 1 May 1980) is an English former professional footballer and manager who was most recently Assistant First-Team Coach of League One club Milton Keynes Dons. Wright began his playing career at Crewe Alexandra, where he helped the club to promotion to the First Division in 2002–03 following the club's relegation to the Second Division in the previous season. He went on the make over 200 league appearances for the club. He also played over 100 league games for Ipswich Town between 2007 and 2010, as well as representing Wigan Athletic, Norwich City on loan, Crystal Palace, Gillingham on loan and Colchester United.
