2011–12 Arkansas Razorbacks Men's Basketball Team
The 2011–12 Arkansas Razorbacks men's basketball team represented the University of Arkansas in the sport of basketball during the 2011–12 college basketball season. The Razorbacks competed in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Southeastern Conference (SEC). They were led by head coach Mike Anderson, and played their home games at Bud Walton Arena on the university's Fayetteville, Arkansas campus. Previous season The Razorbacks finished the 2010–11 season 18–13, 7–9 in SEC play and lost in the first round of the SEC tournament to Tennessee. Head coach John Pelphrey was fired following the season after compiling a 69–59 overall record during four years with Arkansas. Mike Anderson (basketball, Born 1959)
Michael Andre Anderson (born December 12, 1959) is an American basketball coach, most recently the head coach of the St. John's Red Storm. He came to St. John's after previously serving as head coach at UAB, Missouri and Arkansas. He also served as an assistant/associate head coach under Nolan Richardson at Arkansas for 17 years. Over his 20 seasons as a head coach, Anderson has compiled a 414–235 record, 11 20-win campaigns, 9 NCAA Tournament appearances, two Sweet 16 berths and a run to the 2009 Elite Eight. Anderson is one of just 3 current Division I head coaches with 15+ years of experience and no losing seasons, along with Mark Few and Tom Izzo. 2011–12 Grambling State Tigers Men's Basketball Team
The 2011–12 Grambling State Tigers men's basketball team represented Grambling State University in the 2011–12 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Tigers, led by third-year head coach Robert Washington, played their home games at the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center in Grambling, Louisiana as members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC). They finished the season 4–24, 4–14 in SWAC play to finish in last place. The Tigers had received a one-year postseason ban in May 2011 due to poor academic performance and thus failed to quality for the 2012 SWAC tournament. It was Washington's final season as head coach for the Tigers as he was dismissed on March 19, 2012. The 2011–12 Utah Valley Wolverines men's basketball team represented Utah Valley University in the 2011–12 college basketball season. This was head coach Dick Hunsaker's tenth season at UVU. The Wolverines played their home games at the UCCU Center and are members of the Great West Conference. They finished the season 20–13, 9–1 in Great West play to be crowned regular season champions. Fox Sports Networks (FSN), formerly known as Fox Sports Net, was the collective name for a group of regional sports channels in the United States. The 2011–12 Houston Cougars men's basketball team represented the University of Houston in the college basketball 2011–12 season. It was their 67th year of season play. The head coach for the Cougars was James Dickey, who was serving in his 2nd year in that position. The team played its home games at Hofheinz Pavilion on-campus in Houston and was a member of Conference USA. The Cougars improved from the season prior by ending the season with a 0.500 record at 15–15, but only managed 7–9 in conference play.
