The 2011 World Single Distance Speed Skating Championships were held between 10 and 13 March 2011 in the Max Aicher Arena, Inzell, Germany. Brian Hansen (speed Skater)
Brian Hansen (born September 3, 1990, in Evanston, Illinois) is an American speed skater and silver medalist in the Winter Olympics. At the 2010 Winter Olympics, Hansen won a silver medal in the team pursuit along with Jonathan Kuck, Chad Hedrick and Trevor Marsicano. Hansen has also won a two medals in the World Single Distance Championships and four medals (two gold, three silver, one bronze) in the World Junior Championships. As of February 2018, Hansen holds the 13th position on the men's Adelskalender big combination. Career 2018 Winter Olympics Games Hansen qualified for the 2018 U.S. Olympic Team in the 1500 m, Mass Start, and Team Pursuit. Alexej Baumgärtner (also spelled Baumgaertner; born 13 July 1988) is a Russian-born German speed skater. Baumgärtner competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics for Germany. In the 5000 metres he finished 21st, and in the 10000 metres he was 13th. As of September 2014, Baumgärtner's best performance at the World Single Distance Speed Skating Championships is 8th, in the 2012 10000 metres. He won a silver medal at the 2007 World Junior Speed Skating Championships as part of the German team pursuit squad. Baumgärtner made his World Cup debut in January 2009. Lucas Makowsky (born May 30, 1987 in Regina, Saskatchewan) is a Canadian speed skater. He started speed skating at six and went on to rank 1st in Canada in the 5000 m and 10000 m for the 2008–09 season. Haralds Silovs (born 7 April 1986) is a Latvian long track and former short track speed skater, who became the 2008 and 2011 European champion in short track. He has participated in three Winter Olympics. In 2018, he finished fourth at speed skating 1500 metres event. Bart Swings (born 12 February 1991) is a Belgian long track speed skater and inline speed skater. He is the 2022 Olympic champion on the speed skating mass start. Swings won Belgium's first gold medal in 74 years and is the first Belgian athlete ever to have won two medals in the Winter Olympics.
