2011 World Orienteering Championships
The 2011 World Orienteering Championships, the 28th World Orienteering Championships, were held in Savoie, France, 13 –20 August 2011. The championships had eight events; sprint for men and women, middle distance for men and women, long distance (formerly called individual or classic distance) for men and women, and relays for men and women. Ida Bobach
Ida Bobach (born 30 July 1991 in Silkeborg) is a Danish orienteering competitor who was Junior World Champion in 2009, and became triple Junior World Champion from 2010, when she won the sprint, long distance and the relay. She represents the club OK Pan Århus, and since 2007, has received training from Danish national coach Lars Lindstrøm. In 2015 she won gold medals at the World Championships in the long and Relay. Olav Lundanes
Olav Lundanes (born 11 November 1987) is a Norwegian orienteering competitor, hailing from Ålesund. He has won gold medal at the World Orienteering Championships ten times and the European Orienteering Championships four times. He competes for Halden SK. Thierry Gueorgiou
Thierry Gueorgiou (; born 30 March 1979) is a French orienteer who holds the record for gold medals won at the World Orienteering Championships for a male athlete, with 14 gold medals between 2003 and 2017. Gueorgiou has won more than 20 gold medals in international competitions, including the World Orienteering Championships (WOC) middle distance event a record eight times: 2003–2005, 2007–2009, 2011 and 2017. In November 2016 it was announced he will become the Swedish national team head coach following his retirement at the 2017 World Championships. Philippe Adamski
Philippe Adamski (born 8 April 1985) is a French orienteering competitor. He has been a member of the French club Tous Azimuts Douai since he started orienteering. He also runs for Finnish club Kalevan Rasti. Career Adamski started competitive orienteering relatively late, when he was 17, after having some practice at school. However, he reached a high level quickly and took part in his first junior world championships in Estonia one year later (2003). his attendance at the Junior World Orienteering Championships in Poland showed his quick improvement with 2 top 15 places.
