World Judo Championships
The World Judo Championships are the highest level of international judo competition, along with the Olympic judo competition. The championships are held once every year (except the years when the Olympics take place) by the International Judo Federation, and qualified judoka compete in their respective categories as representatives of their home countries. Team competitions have also been held since 1994. The men's championships began in 1956, though the format and periodicity of the championships have changed over time. The last edition of the championships took place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan in 2022. History The first edition of the world championships took place in Tokyo, Japan in 1956. Arman (November 17, 1928 – October 22, 2005) was a French-born American artist. Born Armand Fernandez in Nice, France, Arman was a painter who moved from using objects for the ink or paint traces they leave (''cachets'', ''allures d'objet'') to using them as the artworks themselves. He is best known for his ''Accumulations'' and destruction/recomposition of objects. Early life and education Arman's father, Antonio Fernandez, an antiques dealer from Nice, was also an amateur artist, photographer, and cellist. From his father, Arman learned oil painting and photography. Kim Sung-Min (born 29 June 1987) is a South Korean judoka. He graduated from Yong In University. At the 2008 Asian Judo Championships, his first international adult competition, he won a gold medal. Christopher Sherrington (born 21 October 1983 in Ormskirk, England) is a British judoka. He competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the +100 kg event. Judo career Sherrington born in Ormskirk, England came to prominence when he became champion of Great Britain, winning the heavyweight division at the British Judo Championships in 2005. He repeated the success three years later in 2008. In 2012, he was selected to represent Great Britain at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
