2011 West Coast Fever Season
The 2011 West Coast Fever season was the fourth season that the West Coast Fever contested the ANZ Championship, and the fifteenth year of the franchise's competitive history. In 2011, the Fever were coached by Jane Searle, in her third year as head coach. The 2011 season saw little change in the team's struggling history in the ANZ Championship, finishing in ninth place. Johannah Curran
Johannah Curran (born 9 December 1986) is an Australian netball player. In 2008, Curran played for the Melbourne Vixens in the ANZ Championship. Curran played for the West Coast Fever in the 2009, 2010 and 2011 seasons. In 2012 she took a year away from netball and in 2013, she returned to play for the Melbourne Vixens Melbourne Vixens is an Australian netball team based in Melbourne, Victoria. Leah Shoard
Leah Shoard (born 23 May 1986) is an Australian netball player in the ANZ Championship, playing for the Southern Steel in New Zealand. She played for the New South Wales Swifts in the 2008 season, having previously been signed for the Sydney Swifts and AIS Canberra Darters in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy. While she was not signed up for the Swifts for the 2009 season, in December 2008, the Southern Steel and Netball New Zealand announced that Shoard was allowed to join the New Zealand franchise in 2009, due to star shoot Donna Wilkins being unavailable for the first two rounds after the birth of her first child. Despite the eligibility rules for New Zealand franchises, the Steel fought to include Shoard over a New Zealand player, saying they needed a relatively experienced player to take the goal attack positions in the opening games. CBS Canterbury Arena
Christchurch Arena is an indoor arena in Christchurch, New Zealand. It is located in the suburb of Addington. It has gone through a series of name changes, the most recent of which prior to its current name having been Horncastle Arena. Description The arena is New Zealand's second-largest indoor arena with a maximum capacity of 8,888 (depending on event type), it was the largest until the construction of Auckland's Vector Arena in 2007. The indoor stadium is capable of hosting concerts, exhibitions and various sporting events. Provision for international sport and traditional indoor arena events has been integrated into the design requirements. Donna Wilkins
Donna Wilkins ( née Loffhagen) (born 29 April 1978 in Christchurch, New Zealand) is a New Zealand representative in netball and basketball. She married Southland farmer Mike Wilkins on 17 March 2007. Wilkins returned to the Southern Steel for the 2012 season, after a short stint with the Canterbury Tactix in 2011. Netball Wilkins has represented the New Zealand Silver Ferns 56 times, making her 50th cap against Barbados in Auckland, New Zealand. The 1.85 cm, Goal Attack and Goal Shoot, started her career for Canterbury in the National Championships in 1994 as a cool sixteen-year-old. She carried on playing for the province until called into the Silver Ferns in 1996. After four years playing top netball in Canterbury, Donna Wilkins signed with the Southland netball team for the 1997 season along with fellow Silver Ferns captain Bernice Mene. Ellen Halpenny
Ellen Halpenny (born 25 July 1990) is a former New Zealand netball international. She was a member of the New Zealand team that were silver medalists at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. During the ANZ Championship era, Halpenny played for Canterbury Tactix and Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic. She subsequently played for Scottish Sirens during the 2017 Netball Superleague season. During the ANZ Premiership era, she played for Northern Stars and Southern Steel. Early life, family and education Halpenny is the daughter of Kerry and Mike Halpenny. Canterbury Tactix
Mainland Tactix are a New Zealand netball team based in Christchurch, Canterbury. Between 1998 and 2007, as Canterbury Flames, they played in the Coca-Cola Cup/National Bank Cup league. Between 2008 and 2016, they played in the ANZ Championship. Between 2008 and 2012 they were known as Canterbury Tactix. However, after Netball Mainland was established in October 2012, the team subsequently adopted their current name. Netball Mainland is the governing body that represents the South Island regions of Canterbury, West Coast, Nelson and Marlborough. Janelle Lawson (born 9 August 1987) is an Australian netball player. In 2012 she was a member of the Northern Thunder team that won the Netball Superleague title. During the Commonwealth Bank Trophy era she played for Perth Orioles and AIS Canberra Darters. During the ANZ Championship era she played for Queensland Firebirds and West Coast Fever. Madison “Madi” Browne (born 5 January 1988) is an Australian netball player who has been one of the most successful Australian Netball players to play in the British Netball Superleague for Leeds Rhinos Netball. Early life Madison Browne played for South Barwon Football and Netball Club when she was younger.
