2011 Warrington Wolves Season
This article details the Warrington Wolves Rugby League Football Club's 2011 season. This is the clubs sixteenth season of the Super League era. The club will also look to defend the Challenge Cup following victory at Wembley Stadium against Leeds Rhinos in August 2010. Pre-season Warrington Wolves played 3 pre-season fixtures before the new Super League season kicks off. The Wolves faced Widnes Vikings, Leigh Centurions and Wigan Warriors. The Wolves ran out comfortable winners at Widnes winning by 48-18 and also at Leigh by 58-10. Wolves new signings Brett Hodgson and Joel Monaghan both made their debuts for the club in the victory at Leigh Centurions. Super League XVI
The 2011 Super League season (known as the Engage Super League XVI for sponsorship reasons) was the 16th season of rugby league football since the Super League format was introduced in 1996. Fourteen teams competed for the League Leaders' Shield over 27 rounds (including the Magic Weekend at Millennium Stadium), after which the highest finishing teams entered the play-offs to compete for a place in the Grand Final and a chance to win the championship and the Super League Trophy. Leeds Rhinos claimed their fifth Super League crown, tying the record previously held by St. Helens, whilst the Warrington Wolves lifted the League Leaders' Shield. The season kicked off on 12 February with the Annual "Millennium Magic Weekend", which was brought forward from its usual slot in May. Halton Stadium
The DCBL Stadium (historically known as Lowerhouse Lane and Naughton Park) is a rugby league stadium in Widnes, Cheshire, England. It is the home of Rugby League side Widnes Vikings of the Betfred Championship, and American football side Halton Spartans of the BAFA National Leagues. The stadium is all seater and has a total capacity of 13,350. During the 2011 Super League Season, St. Helens played their home games at the stadium. Richard David Myler (born 21 May 1990) is a professional rugby league footballer who plays as a and for the Leeds Rhinos in the Betfred Super League.
