The 2011 Tour de Luxembourg cycling race was the 71st running of the Tour de Luxembourg. It was won by Linus Gerdemann from Germany, a member of the Luxembourg-based team, . Gerdemann became in doing so the first German to ever win the Tour de Luxembourg. Linus Gerdemann
Linus Gerdemann (born 16 September 1982) is a German former professional road bicycle racer, who won a stage in the 2007 Tour de France and led the general classification for two days, wearing the yellow jersey. After failing to find a contract for 2013, Gerdemann joined for the 2014 season. In 2015 he rode for Danish professional continental team Cult Energy-Vital Water. Early 2017, Gerdemann announced his retirement. Career After riding on amateur teams Team Winfix and Team AKUD Arnolds Sicherheit, in 2005 he became a professional rider for after a recommendation from Dennis Kraft, signing on for a 2-year contract. Jimmy Engoulvent (born 7 December 1979) is a French former road racing cyclist, who competed professionally between 2001 and 2015 for the , , and teams. Since retiring, Engoulvent has worked as a directeur sportif for the team, before moving to for the 2018 season. Mickaël Delage (born 6 August 1985) is a French former professional road and track cyclist, who last rode for UCI WorldTeam . Career Born in Libourne, Delage participated at the World Track Championships in Moscow in 2003 as a junior, where he won the silver medal at the points race, after Australian Miles Olman. In that same year he would become national junior champion of France at the team pursuit (alongside Jonathan Mouchel, Yannick Marie and Mickaël Mallie) and the madison (together with Mouchel). In 2004 he would win the national title in the points race at the under-23 level. Jeremy Hunt (born 12 March 1974) is a British former road racing cyclist who raced for numerous years mainly a sprinter. Hunt was the winner of the British National Road Race Championships in 1997 and 2001. He now works as a directeur sportif for UCI Continental team . Gregory Henderson (born 10 September 1976) is a New Zealand former professional track and road racing cyclist, who rode professionally between 2002 and 2017. His career includes winning the scratch race at the 2004 world championships and, in road cycling, winning the points competition at the Tour de Georgia in 2005 and 2008. Bascharage
Bascharage (; lb, Nidderkäerjeng ; german: Niederkerschen) is a town and a former commune in south-western Luxembourg. Since 2012, it is part of the commune of Käerjeng. History Bascharage with the other towns like Linger, Hautcharage, and Pétange were owned by the "Hoheit Kerschen". The first known reference to them was on April 4, 1281 for obtaining their freedom under the law of Beamont "Freiheitsbrief nach Böhmerrecht". The freedom of Clemency probably happened in 1260. After the occupation of France (1794 – 1815), the "Hoheit Kerschen" changed in "municipalité cantonale Bascharage" with the townships of Bascharage, Clemency, Mamer, Garnich, and Dippach. This township came out in 1799 as the "Mairie de Bascharage" with the towns of Bascharage, Hautchaurage, and Linger. Their first mayor was Pierre Clemont in 1800.
