2011 Torneo Intermedio
The 2011 Torneo Intermedio (known as the Copa Movistar for sponsorship reasons) was played between June and July while the Peru national football team prepared for and competed in the 2011 Copa América. The tournament was played as a knockout competition, with the participation of the 16 teams of the Primera División, and 19 invited teams of which 5 compete in the Segunda División and 14 amateur teams. Foot Ball Club Melgar, known simply as FBC Melgar or Melgar, is a Peruvian Association football, football club based in Arequipa, Peru. It is one of Peru's oldest football teams, founded on 25 March 1915 by a group of football enthusiasts from Arequipa. Ayacucho Fútbol Club is a Peruvian football club located in Ayacucho, Peru. Some of its former names are Aurora Miraflores, Olímpico San Luis, Olímpico Somos Peru, Olímpico Aurora Miraflores, Loreto and Inti Gas. As Olímpico Somos Peru, the club won a Second Division title in 2006, and as Inti Gas, the club finished as runner-up in 2008. Club Sportivo Cienciano is a professional football club based in Cusco, Peru that currently plays in the Peruvian Primera División. The club was founded in 1901 by a group of students of the ''Colegio Nacional Ciencias del Cusco'' (National Science School of Cusco). Colegio Nacional Iquitos (usually referred to as CNI) is a Peruvian football team based in the city of Iquitos which was founded in 1926. CNI is the biggest club in the city of Iquitos and currently is not playing in any league.
