2011 Salford City Council Election
The 2011 Salford City Council election took place on 5 May 2011 to elect members of Salford City Council in England. This was on the same day as other local elections. Salford local elections are organised 'in thirds', with Councillors elected in 2007 defending their seats in 2011, with vote share changes calculated on that basis. One third of the council was up for election. The Labour Party gained five seats and remains in overall control of the council. The results mirrored those of the 2010 elections with Labour winning the same seventeen wards and the Conservatives three wards. Salford City Council
Salford City Council is the local authority of the City of Salford in Greater Manchester, England. It is a metropolitan borough council, one of ten in Greater Manchester and one of 36 in the metropolitan counties of England, and provides the majority of local government services in Salford. It is a constituent council of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority. The directly elected mayor is Paul Dennett and the civic mayor for 2021-2022 is John Mullen. The council is based at Salford Civic Centre with additional offices in Eccles. Some services, including property, highways and infrastructure, planning and building control were provided by Urban Vision, a public-private partnership formed in 2005 between SCC, Capita and Galliford Try. Salford City Council Elections
Salford City Council elections are generally held three years out of every four, with a third of the council being elected each time. Salford City Council is the local authority for the metropolitan borough of Salford in Greater Manchester, England. Since the last boundary changes in 2020, 60 councillors have been elected from 20 wards. Political control From 1889 to 1974 Salford was a county borough, independent of any county council. Under the Local Government Act 1972 it had its territory enlarged and became a metropolitan borough, with Greater Manchester County Council providing county-level services. The first election to the reconstituted city council was held in 1973, initially operating as a shadow authority before coming into its revised powers on 1 April 1974. Chris Clarkson (politician)
Christopher Mark Clarkson (born 12 November 1982) is a British Conservative Party politician who has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Heywood & Middleton since the 2019 general election. Prior to entering Parliament, Clarkson was a Salford City Councilor for Worsley. Worsley and Westwood Park (ward) is an electoral ward of Salford, England. It is represented in Westminster by Barbara Keeley MP for Worsley and Eccles South.
