Philippe Beaudry
Philippe Beaudry (born March 16, 1987) is a Canadian Olympic sabre fencer, twice Pan American champion and eleven-time national champion, both at the junior and senior levels. Career Beaudry's father Paul was a top-level fencer, who qualified to compete in the 1980 Summer Olympics, but was prevented from taking part because of Canada's boycott of the Games. Beaudry's parents met at a fencing class his father was teaching at Université de Montréal. Despite this Beaudry was not pressured into fencing. His first sport was basketball, but he never was passionate about it. At the age of thirteen, after his family came back from Lebanon, where they had spent part of his childhood, he tried fencing because it was offered at his high school and immediately took to the sport. Beaudry made his breakthrough in the 2006–07 season. He won the bronze medal at the 2007 Junior World Championships in Belek after being defeated in the semifinals by Korea's Park Young-jun. María Belén Pérez Maurice
María Belén Pérez Maurice (born 12 July 1985) is an Argentinian sabre fencer who was Pan American champion in 2014. She was the only representative of the sport from Argentina at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio, and the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Career Pérez Maurice started fencing at the age of thirteen at the instigation of her mother, an amateur fencer. She did not like the sport at first but took an interest after her first victory. She trained at the Círculo Militar in Buenos Aires–her father is a colonel in the Argentine Army– under Lucas Saucedo, who remains her coach as of 2014. She first fenced foil, a weapon in which she reached the quarter-finals at the 2006 Buenos Aires World Cup, then switched to sabre for the 2006–07 season. Sandra Sassine (born September 28, 1979) is a Canadian fencer. She was born in Chibougamau, Quebec. She competed in the individual and team sabre events at the 2008 Summer Olympics. In the women's sabre in 2008, she competed in section 3, beating Elvira Wood in the first round, but was eliminated in the second round by gold medalist Mariel Zagunis. She placed 28th overall. She was a member of the Canadian team that finished in 7th place in the team sabre event. Mariel Zagunis
Mariel Leigh Zagunis (born March 3, 1985) is an American sabre fencer. She is a two-time Olympic champion in the individual sabre ( 2004 and 2008) and the first American to win a gold medal in Olympic fencing. She was Team USA flag bearer in the 2012 Summer Olympics Parade of Nations. She has two Olympic bronze team medals (in 2008 and 2016) and is a five-time Olympian (2004, 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2020). Courtney Hurley (born September 30, 1990) is an American fencer. She won a bronze medal in the women's team épée alongside Maya Lawrence, Susie Scanlan, and Kelley Hurley at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Kelley Hurley (born April 4, 1988) is an American épée fencer. She won the bronze medal in the women's team épée event at the 2012 Summer Olympics. A standout at the University of Notre Dame, she was a 4-time All-American. She has qualified to represent the United States in fencing at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo in 2021. Coached by their father, Bob Hurley, Kelley and her younger sister Courtney have competed on World Teams together since Kelley was 17.
