2011 Nova Scotia Scotties Tournament Of Hearts
The 2011 Nova Scotia Scotties Tournament of Hearts was held January 25–30 at the Glooscap Curling Club in Kentville, Nova Scotia. The winning team of Heather Smith-Dacey represented Nova Scotia at the 2011 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. They finished round robin play with a record of 7–4, winning a tiebreaker against British Columbia. The team lost the 3-4 page playoff game against Ontario, but rebounded by winning the Bronze Medal Game against the same team from Ontario. Kentville, Nova Scotia
Kentville is an incorporated town in Nova Scotia. It is the most populous town in the Annapolis Valley. As of 2021, the town's population was 6,630. Its census agglomeration is 26,929. History Kentville owes its location to the Cornwallis River which, downstream from Kentville, becomes a large tidal river at the Minas Basin. The riverbank at the current location of Kentville provided an easy fording point. The Mi'kmaq name for the location was "Penooek". The ford and later the bridge in Kentville made the area an important crossroads for other settlements in the Annapolis Valley. Kentville also marked the limit of navigation of sailing ships. Acadian settlement The area was first settled by Acadians, who built many dykes along the river to keep the high Bay of Fundy tides out of their farmland. Jennifer Baxter (curler)
Jennifer "Jenn" Baxter (born April 4, 1987 in Halifax, Nova Scotia) is a Canadian curler from Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia. She currently plays third on Team Christina Black out of the Mayflower Curling Club in Halifax. Career Juniors During Baxter's junior eligibility years, she would only make one appearance at the Canadian Junior Curling Championships. This appearance took place at the 2007 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, where Baxter, playing lead for Marie Christianson, represented Nova Scotia. Her team failed to make the playoffs, finishing round robin with a 6-6 record. 2009–current Baxter would team up with and play second for Mary-Anne Arsenault at the start of the 2009/2010 curling season. Christina Black (born October 21, 1987) is a Canadian curler from Halifax, Nova Scotia. She currently skips her own team out of the Dartmouth Curling Club in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Career Black joined Team Mary-Anne Arsenault for the 2014–15 season at third. The team, along with second Jane Snyder and lead Jennifer Baxter, won two tour events early in the season, the Dave Jones Molson Mayflower Cashspiel and the Gibson's Cashspiel. Jennifer "JC" Lee Crouse (born January 23, 1980 in Antigonish, Nova Scotia) is a Canadian curler from Timberlea, Nova Scotia. Career Crouse would win her first provincial title with Nancy McConnery defeating Mary-Anne Arsenault in 2009 throwing third rocks earning the right to represent Nova Scotia at the 2009 Scotties Tournament of Hearts. Unfortunately the team would not make playoffs at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts finishing with a disappointing 2-9 record. The following year Crouse won a second provincial title with Nancy McConnery, defeating Mary-Anne Arsenault in 2010 and the right to represent Nova Scotia at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts again the team ended up with another disappointing finish at nationals at 1-10. The McConnery team disbanded the end of the 2010 season.
