The 2011 Lagos State gubernatorial election was the seventh gubernatorial election of Lagos State. Held on 26 April 2011, the Action Congress of Nigeria nominee Babatunde Fashola won the election, defeating Shamsideen Adegboye of the People's Democratic Party. 2007 Lagos State Gubernatorial Election
The 2007 Lagos State gubernatorial election occurred on 14 April 2007. Babatunde Raji Fashola of the AC defeated other candidates, by polling 599,300 votes, PDP's Musiliu Olatunde Obanikoro was closest contender with 383,956 votes. Babatunde Fashola emerged the ACN candidate at the gubernatorial primary election. His running mate was Sarah Adebisi Sosan. Of the 22 candidates who contested in the governorship election, 20 were male, only two were female. Among the deputies, 18 were male, four were female. 2015 Lagos State Gubernatorial Election
An election for Governor of Lagos State took place on 11 April 2015. All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Akinwunmi Ambode, who is a former accountant general of Lagos State, defeated People's Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Jimi Agbaje and Alliance for Democracy (AD) candidate Bolaji Ogunseye. The governor and deputy governor are elected on the same ticket. APC primary APC candidate Akinwunmi Ambode defeated 12 other contestants to clinch the party ticket. He won with 3,735 votes to defeat his closest rival, Obafemi Hamzat (who received 1,201 votes), and Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly Adeyemi Ikuforiji, who came in a distant third with 182 votes. Babatunde Fashola
Babatunde Raji Fashola ( yo, Bàbátúndé Rájí Fáṣọlá; born 28 June 1963) is a Nigerian lawyer and politician currently serving as the Federal Minister of Works and Housing of Nigeria. He served two terms as Governor of Lagos State from 29 May 2007 to 29 May 2015. Early life Fashola was born on 28 June 1963, in Lagos at Island Maternity Hospital into the family of Ademola Fashola, a former journalist with the Daily Times of Nigeria, and Olufunke Agunbiade, a nurse. Action Congress Of Nigeria
The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), formerly known as Action Congress (AC), was a Nigerian political party formed via the merger of a faction of Alliance for Democracy, the Justice Party, the Advance Congress of Democrats, and several other minor political parties in September 2006. The party controlled Lagos. It was regarded as a natural successor to the progressive politics more closely associated with the Action Group and Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) led by Chief Obafemi Awolowo in the First and Second Republics respectively. Victoria Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire (born 29 September 1959) is a Nigerian politician. She served as deputy governor of Lagos State from 2011 to 2015. Prior to that, she was the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation of Lagos State from 2003 to 2011.
