2011 India Open Grand Prix Gold
The 2011 India Open Grand Prix also known as Yonex–Sunrise Syed Modi Memorial India Open Grand Prix Gold was a badminton tournament which took place at Babu Banarasi Das Indoor Stadium in Lucknow, India from 20 to 25 December 2011 and had a total purse of $120,000. This is for the first time this tournament was graded as a Grand Prix Gold event, where before rate as Grand Prix event. This tournament was part of the qualification stage of 2012 Summer Olympics. Hans-Kristian Solberg Vittinghus (born 16 January 1986) is a Danish badminton player. He was a member of the winning Denmark team at the 2016 Thomas Cup in Kunshan, China. Career Junior He won 4 junior national titles, 2 in singles in 2003 and 2005 and 2 in men's doubles in 1999 and 2003. Misbun Ramdan bin Mohmed Misbun (born 1 March 1991) is a Malaysian professional badminton player. He is the son of former Malaysian international badminton player Misbun Sidek. Career Misbun Ramdan won his first local title by upsetting Mohd Arif Abdul Latif, 21–18, 21–18 in the men’s singles final of the 2012 Pahang Open. In the same year, he won his first national title by defeating Chong Wei Feng to become the new national champion. In January 2013, Ramdan left Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) to train under his father, Misbun Sidek. In April 2014, Ramdan was invited by BAM for the selection trials of Thomas Cup. Liew Daren (born 6 August 1987) is a Malaysian badminton player. His biggest success to date is having won the 2012 French Open Super Series. He reached a career high ranking of World No.10. He also represented Malaysia competed at the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games and 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games. Early life Liew was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and was educated at the Taman Midah Primary School. He began playing badminton at the age of seven. Derek Wong (born Wong Zi Liang, traditional Chinese: 黃梓良, 13 January 1989) is a retired Singaporean badminton player. Wong is a two-time Olympian, who took part at the 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics, where he was flag bearer in the latter's Parade of Nations. Early life Wong was born on 13 January 1989, in Singapore, to parents Wong Shoon Keat and Irene Lee. He grew up in a badminton-loving family with three other brothers (Shawn, Jamie and Jason). Both his parents are former national champions and they own a badminton shop at the old Singapore Badminton Hall. Parupalli Kashyap (born 8 September 1986) is an Indian badminton player. A former World No.6, he trains at Gopichand Badminton Academy. He was awarded the Arjuna Award by the Government of India in 2012. He created history by reaching the quarter-finals of men's singles at the 2012 London Olympics, being the first male player from India to do so. Hu Yun (; born 31 August 1981) is a retired badminton player representing Hong Kong since 2006. He competed at the 2010 and 2014 Asian Games, and also 2016 Rio Olympics.
