2011 In ONE Championship
''ONE Fighting Championship: Champion vs. Champion'' (also known as ''ONE FC 1'') was the inaugural mixed martial arts event held by ONE Championship. The event took place on September 3, 2011 at the 12,000 capacity Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore. It is the first and only event held by the organization in 2011. Background ONE Championship instituted Pride Fighting Championships rules combined with Nevada's unified rules; this allowed for soccer kicks, head stomps, knees on the ground, and permitting the use of elbows. The event was broadcast on domestic TV in Singapore by MediaCorp Channel 5. The event also streamed live on Sherdog to all countries except Singapore. This led multiple media sources to describe ONE Fighting Championship: Champion vs. Champion as "the biggest event in Asian mixed martial arts history" and to speculate that the TV audience might be the biggest ever for a mixed martial arts event. ONE Championship
ONE Championship (formerly ONE Fighting Championship) is a Singaporean combat sports promotion. Founded on 14 July 2011 by entrepreneur Chatri Sityodtong and former ESPN Star Sports senior executive Victor Cui, its events have featured mixed martial arts (MMA), submission grappling, kickboxing, Muay Thai and Lethwei bouts. The promotion's first event was held on 3 September 2011 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium; they have since gone on to hold over 100 events across Asia. Eduard Folayang
Eduard Folayang (born November 22, 1983) is a Filipino mixed martial artist and wushu practitioner who fights in ONE Championship, where he is a two-time ONE Lightweight World Champion. He also competed for Universal Reality Combat Championship, where he was the last welterweight champion. Folayang is a member of Team Lakay Wushu in Baguio which has produced numerous Filipino champions in URCC and ONE Championship. Prior to joining Team Lakay Wushu, Folayang was a high school teacher in the Mountain Province. The Baguio native made his first Martial Combat debut on June 17, 2010, defeating Slovak fighter Egon Racz via guillotine choke early in the first round. Leandro Issa (born September 19, 1983) is a mixed martial artist from Brazil. Issa is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and has won numerous BJJ competitions and tournaments including the Mundials and the Brazilian national championships. He is a member of the Evolve MMA fight team and is based in Singapore. Mixed martial arts career Fighting in Brazil Issa made his professional MMA debut in October 2006 submitting Eduardo Felipe in the second round. He was handed the first loss of his MMA career in May 2007 when he was stopped in the third round by Japanese fighter Takafumi Otsuka. Vuyisile Colossa (born 28 June 1982) is a South African professional mixed martial artist and kickboxer, a 5-time world champion in kickboxing and Muay Thai. He has been a professional competitor in kickboxing since 2002 and a professional MMA competitor since 2010. Yoshiyuki Yoshida
(born May 10, 1974) is a Japanese mixed martial artist competing in the welterweight division. A student of former Shooto competitor Noboru Asahi, he has competed in Shooto, Cage Force, and the UFC. On December 1, 2007, he became the first Cage Force welterweight tournament winner. Ole 'Iron Fist' Laursen (born August 21, 1977) is a Filipino-born Danish Welterweight Muay Thai kickboxer and mixed martial artist, he competed in K-1 and in ONE Championship. Early life Laursen was born in Manila, Philippines to Danish father and a Spanish-Filipino mother and moved to Denmark with his family when he was two years old. The Singapore Indoor Stadium, known exonymously as the Indoor Stadium, is an indoor arena located in Kallang, Singapore. It is within walking distance of the Singapore National Stadium, and collectively form a part of the wider Singapore Sports Hub.
