@earth
''@earth'' is a 2011 book made by the London born (and based) photomontage artist Peter Kennard with Lebanese artist Tarek Salhany. It is a photo-essay told through photomontage with seven chapters exposing the current state of the Earth, the conditions of life on it and the need to resist injustice. It was released on 1 May 2011 by Tate Publishing. Apart from the title ''@earth'' (which is also in different languages on its back cover) the pocket book contains no words and its story is told in sequences of constructed images. ''@earth'' combines images created digitally over the preceding two years by Kennard with Salhany especially for the project, with Kennard's earlier darkroom based photomontages (spanning over 40 years of work) some of which are part of the Tate Permanent Collection. 2011 Montreal Museum Of Fine Arts Theft
The 2011 Montreal Museum of Fine Arts theft took place in two separate incidents during September and October of that year. In both instances, the same thief took a small ancient stone piece that was openly exhibited, without a protective case, and smuggled it out of the museum. One has since been recovered; however, the thief remains unidentified and the whereabouts of the other is not known. On September 3, one day before the anniversary of the 1972 robbery of 18 paintings, a visitor took a sandstone Achaemenid Empire relief. In late October, he returned to take a Roman marble head from its pedestal. The two works were collectively valued at $1.3 million, with the relief accounting for almost all of that amount. The museum did not disclose the theft until February 2012 to avoid compromising the joint investigation by its insurance company and Sureté du Québec's art theft unit. Corinna Belz
Corinna Belz is a German documentary filmmaker. She is known for the films '' Gerhard Richter Painting'' (2011), '' Peter Handke: In the Woods, Might Be Late'' (2016) and '' Inside the Uffizi'' (2021). Life and career Corinna Belz studied philosophy, art history and media studies in Cologne and Berlin. After her first film about Gerhard Richter's Cologne Cathedral Window (2007), Belz made the feature length documentary '' Gerhard Richter Painting'' (2011). In 2017, Richter and Belz developed the abstract film ''Moving Picture (946-3)'', for which Steve Reich wrote the composition "Reich/Richter". The piece was performed in New York City in 2019 by Ensemble Signal, at the Barbican Centre in London, Philharmonie de Paris and other European venues. Gerhard Richter
Gerhard Richter (; born 9 February 1932) is a German visual artist. Richter has produced abstract as well as photorealistic paintings, and also photographs and glass pieces. He is widely regarded as one of the most important contemporary German artists and several of his works have set record prices at auction. Personal life Childhood and education Richter was born in Hospital Dresden-Neustadt in Dresden, Saxony, and grew up in Reichenau (now Bogatynia, Poland), and in Waltersdorf (Zittauer Gebirge), in the Upper Lusatian countryside, where his father worked as a village teacher. Gerhard's mother, Hildegard Schönfelder, gave birth to him at the age of 25. Hildegard's father, Ernst Alfred Schönfelder, at one time was considered a gifted pianist. Ernst moved the family to Dresden after taking up the family enterprise of brewing and eventually went bankrupt. Colchester
Colchester ( ) is a city in Essex, in the East of England. It had a population of 122,000 in 2011. The demonym is Colcestrian. Colchester occupies the site of Camulodunum, the first major city in Roman Britain and its first capital. Colchester therefore claims to be Britain's first city. Mougins Museum Of Classical Art
The MACM, the Mougins Museum of Classical Art (Musée d’Art Classique de Mougins) is an art museum located in the village of Mougins, in the Alpes-Maritimes department, France. It is 30 minutes from Nice airport and 15 minutes from the centre of Cannes. The MACM opened to the public in June 2011. The museum has won several international awards and has loaned dozens of objects to other museums and university exhibitions all over the world.
