2011 Giro Del Trentino
The 2011 Giro del Trentino was the 35th edition of the Giro del Trentino cycling stage race. It was held from 19–22 April 2011, as 2.HC event on the UCI Europe Tour. Italian Michele Scarponi of won the overall classification after moving into the leader's jersey after stage 2. Tiago Machado was second, Luca Ascani third. Teams and cyclists There were 18 teams in the 2011 Giro del Trentino. Among them were 7 UCI ProTeams, seven UCI Professional Continental teams, and four Continental teams. Each team was allowed eight riders on their squad, giving the event a peloton of 144 cyclists at its outset. The favourites were: Vincenzo Nibali, Roman Kreuziger and Michele Scarponi, all of them preparing for the Giro d'Italia. Giro Del Trentino
The Tour of the Alps is an annual professional cycling stage race in Italy and Austria. First held in 1962, it was named Giro del Trentino ( en, Tour of Trentino) until 2016, and run over four stages in the Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol region of Italy. In 2015, the race merged with the nearby one-day race Trofeo Melinda, and the 2015 edition was called the Giro del Trentino Melinda. In 2017, the event was renamed Tour of the Alps, as it addresses the entire Euroregion of Tyrol–South Tyrol–Trentino, formed by three different regional authorities in two countries: the Austrian state of Tyrol and the Italian autonomous provinces of South Tyrol and Trentino. Adriano Malori
Adriano Malori (born 28 January 1988) is an Italian former road racing cyclist, who rode professionally between 2010 and 2017 for the and squads. Career Malori was the ''lanterne rouge'' of the 2010 Tour de France, finishing almost four and a half hours behind winner Andy Schleck (). Having ridden for the squad since August 2009, Malori left the team at the end of the 2013 season to join the . He won the final time trial of the 2014 Vuelta a España. On 23 January 2016, at the Tour de San Luis, Malori suffered a severe crash as he was leading the peloton. His front wheel was caught in a crack on the road and he flew over his bike, crashing head-first. He was put in an induced coma. Three days later, he was moved to a special clinic in Buenos Aires. Przemysław Niemiec (born 11 April 1980) is a Polish former road racing cyclist, who rode professionally between 2002 and 2018 for the , and squads. Career He made his professional debut in 2002 for the team . Born in Oświęcim, Niemiec won the 2005 Tour of Slovenia and the 2006 edition of the Tour of Tuscany. He has also won a number of stages of the Route du Sud and finished sixteenth alongside the leading competitors at the 2008 Summer Olympics. In 2013, Niemiec had top ten finishes in many stage races including the Giro Del Trentino, the Volta a Catalunya, and in the Tirreno Adriactico. After finishing 3rd in the 2013 Giro del Trentino, Niemiec was selected to Team Lampre squad at the Giro d'Italia and he rode in support of Michele Scarponi, where he had a very solid 6th-place finish. Yaroslav Popovych ( uk, Ярослав Попович; born 4 January 1980) is a Ukrainian former professional cyclist, who rode professionally between 2002 and 2016. Alessandro Ballan (born 6 November 1979 in Castelfranco Veneto, Veneto) is an Italian former professional road bicycle racer who most recently rode for UCI World Tour team . He is best known for winning the World Road Race Championships, in 2008. Stefan Schumacher (born 21 July 1981) is a German former professional road racing cyclist. Schumacher won the bronze medal in the road race at the 2007 UCI Road World Championships, two stages in the 2006 Giro d'Italia and two stages in the 2008 Tour de France.
