2011 European Masters Games
The 2011 European Masters Games is the second edition of the multi-sport event for masters sport, scheduled to take place between 10–20 September 2011 in the areas of Lignano Sabbiadoro and Friuli-Venezia Giulia in Italy. European Masters Games
The European Masters Games (EMG) is a multi-sport event, consisting of summer sports, that is held every four years. The European Masters Games are owned by the International Masters Games Association ( IMGA), who also own the World Masters Games. The age categories vary depending on the sport but the competition is generally for people 30–35 years or older. The first games were held in 2008 in Malmö, Sweden. The European Masters Games are held once every four year, while the last games were held in 2015 in Nice, France, the next games will be celebrated in Turin, Italy, in 2019. Lignano Sabbiadoro
Lignano Sabbiadoro (; fur, Lignan) is a town and comune within the province of Udine, in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region of north-eastern Italy. It is one of the main summer resorts in northern Italy and on the Adriatic Sea coast. History Lignano Sabbiadoro developed in the early 20th century starting from some private hospitality resorts, which at the beginning could be reached only by sea. The first permanent inhabitants settled in the area in 1931, after the draining of the nearby marshes. The first road connecting Lignano with the nearby comune of Latisana was built in 1926. The European Athletic Association (more commonly known as European Athletics) is the governing body for athletics in Europe. Masters Games
The World Masters Games is an international multi-sport event held every four years which, in terms of competitor numbers, has developed into the largest of its kind. Governed by the International Masters Games Association (IMGA), the World Masters Games is open to sports people of all abilities and most ages – the minimum age criterion ranges between 25 and 35 years depending on the sport. Auckland, New Zealand hosted the event's ninth edition from 21 to 30 April 2017. Anyone can participate in the games so long as they are over the age of 35 though some sports will allow athletes who are younger than that.
