2011 European Athletics Indoor Championships
The 2011 European Athletics Indoor Championships were held at the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy in Paris, France, from 4 to 6 March 2011. 577 athletes representing 46 countries competed at the championships. Twenty-six track and field events were contested, with the events programme divided equally between the genders. Russia topped the medal table, having won the most gold medals (six), as well as having gained the greatest total with fifteen. The host nation, France, was the next best performing team, with five golds being won by French athletes. Germany had the third highest medal haul, followed by Great Britain. Rožle Prezelj (born 26 September 1979) is a Slovenian high jumper. Prezelj represented Slovenia at the 2004, 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics. His best result came at the 2008 Olympics when he finished the competition in 12th place. His father Dušan, who competed in the decathlon, had a high jump personal best of 2.15 m (set in 1976) and his mother Stanka Lovše-Prezelj was a two-time Yugoslav high jump champion with a personal best of 1.86 m (set in 1981). Thomas ("Tom") Martin Parsons (born 5 May 1984 in Birmingham, United Kingdom) is a British athlete competing in high jump. Parsons finished 20th in the 2003 European Juniors, 17th in the 2005 European U23 championships, 10th in the 2005 World University Games, 11th at the 2006 Commonwealth Games and 10th in the World Championships at Osaka. Nicola Ciotti (born 5 October 1976 in Rimini) is an Italian high jumper. He is the twin brother of Giulio Ciotti. Biography He finished fifth at the 2005 World Championships and sixth at the 2006 European Championships. He also competed at the European Indoor Championships in 2002, 2005, 2007 and 2009, the World Championships in 2003, 2005 and 2007 as well as the 2004 Olympic Games and the 2006 World Indoor Championships without reaching the final. Ciotti became Italian high jump champion in 2005, triumphing over Giulio Ciotti, Andrea Bettinelli, and Alessandro Talotti in those efforts. He also became indoor champion in 2002, 2005 and 2006. Raúl Roland Spank (born 13 July 1988, in Dresden) is a retired German athlete who specialised in the high jump. He competed on the world stage for the first time at the 2005 World Youth Championships in Athletics in Marrakesh. He finished seventh in the final, jumping a personal best of 2.11 metres. The following year he moved up to the junior level, taking part in the 2006 World Junior Championships. He finished the tournament in Beijing with another personal best of 2.23 m, ending up in fifth place.
