2011 European Athletics Indoor Championships
The 2011 European Athletics Indoor Championships were held at the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy in Paris, France, from 4 to 6 March 2011. 577 athletes representing 46 countries competed at the championships. Twenty-six track and field events were contested, with the events programme divided equally between the genders. Russia topped the medal table, having won the most gold medals (six), as well as having gained the greatest total with fifteen. The host nation, France, was the next best performing team, with five golds being won by French athletes. Germany had the third highest medal haul, followed by Great Britain. Pascal Mancini (born 18 April 1989) is a Swiss sprinter who specializes in the 100 metres. He was born in Fribourg. He competed at the 2008 World Junior Championships, the 2009 European Indoor Championships, the 2010 World Indoor Championships without reaching the final, and the 2011 European U23 Championships. In the 4 × 100 metres relay he finished fourth at the 2007 European Junior Championships and competed at the 2009 World Championships. Joel Fearon (born 11 October 1988) is a British sprinter and bobsledder. He represents the Birchfield Harriers and he is recognisable in the National Trials for wearing a black vest and lycra shorts. His coach is Michael Khmel, who also coached British Sprinter Craig Pickering. His personal best for the 100m, 9.96 seconds, places him 6th on the UK all-time list. In addition to pursuing a sprinting career, Fearon has also competed in bobsleigh since November 2011, and was part of the Great Britain crews that finished fifth in the four man event at the FIBT World Championships in February 2013, and second at the Bobsleigh European Championship in January 2014.
