Held on April 11, 2015, the People's Democratic Party nominee Dave Umahi won the election, defeating Edward Nkwegu of the Labour Party. Martin Elechi
Martin Elechi is a Nigerian economist and politician. He served as the Governor of Ebonyi State from 2007 to 2015. He ran in the 2007 Nigerian general election on the People's Democratic Party (PDP) ticket and assumed the position on May 29, 2007, succeeding Sam Egwu. Elechi ran successfully for re-election on 26 April 2011. In 2017 Elechi left People Democratic Party (PDP) for All Progressives Congress (APC). Julius Ucha
Julius Ucha (born 19 October 1958) was elected Senator for the Ebonyi Central constituency of Ebonyi State, Nigeria, taking office on 29 May 2003, and was reelected in 2007. He is a member of the All Progressives Congress(APC). Ucha earned an LL.B degree from Anambra State University of Science & Technology. He was a member of the old Enugu State Board of Mercy. He was elected a member of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, where he was appointed Speaker. After returning to the Senate in 2007 Ucha was appointed to committees on Works, Senate Services, Inter-Parliamentary Affairs, Independent National Electoral Commission and Commerce. In a mid-term evaluation of Senators in May 2009, ThisDay said he had not sponsored any bills but had sponsored or co-sponsored several motions. Ebonyi State ( ig, Ȯra Ebonyi) is a state in the South-East geopolitical zone of Nigeria, bordered to the north and northeast by Benue State, Enugu State to the west, Cross River State to the east and southeast, and Abia State to the southwest. Named for the Abonyi (Aboine) River—a large part of which is in the state's south—Ebonyi State was formed from parts of Abia and Enugu state in 1996 and has its capital as Abakaliki.
