2011 Drake Bulldogs Football Team
The 2011 Drake Bulldogs football team represented Drake University as member of the Pioneer Football League (PFL) during the 2011 NCAA Division I FCS football season. Led by fourth-year head coach Chris Creighton, the Bulldogs compiled and overall record of 9–2 with a mark of 7–1 in conference play, sharing the PFL title with San Diego. Pioneer Football League
The Pioneer Football League (PFL) is a collegiate athletic conference which operates in the United States. The conference participates in the NCAA's Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) as a football-only conference. It has member schools that range from New York, North Carolina, and Florida in the east to California in the west. It is headquartered in St. Louis, in the same complex that also contains the offices of the Missouri Valley Conference and Missouri Valley Football Conference. Unlike most other Division I FCS conferences, the Pioneer League consists of institutions that choose not to award athletic scholarships ("grants-in-aid") to football players. Jayne Stadium
Jayne Stadium is a 10,000-seat multi-purpose stadium in Morehead, Kentucky, United States. It opened in 1964 and is home to the Morehead State University Eagles football team. Surrounding Jacobs Field, the stadium hosts press and VIP facilities, box seats and home and visiting stands. The stadium, opened in 1964, also has locker room facilities, MSU's primary sports medicine facilities and the football offices. The football offices have been remodeled and upgraded, and the football locker room on the north end of the facility was recently renovated and now features hardwood lockers for all players and an upgraded equipment room/storage area. Atop the stadium, the press box can accommodate 20 working media/game day staff, and there are booths for home and visiting radio and coaches. 2011 Kilimanjaro Bowl
The 2011 Global Kilimanjaro Bowl was the first college football game played on the continent of Africa. The game at the Sheikh Amri Abeid Memorial Stadium in Arusha, Tanzania was played in May 21, 2011, due to the seasonal difference in Africa, featuring Drake against Mexican All-Star team CONADEIP. It marked the first NCAA Division I bowl game versus a Mexican opponent since the 1945 Sun Bowl, and the first to be played after the BCS Championship Game. The title sponsor of the game was Global Football, along with counterpart sponsors Iowa Resource for International Service (IRIS), IRIS Youth Exchange & Study Program alumni from Tanzania, Tanapa Partners and Younger Optics. Dayton–Drake Football Rivalry
The Dayton–Drake football rivalry is an American college football rivalry between the Dayton Flyers and Drake Bulldogs. The rivalry began in 1952 and the teams have meet annually since 1987. Summary Dayton leads the all-time series 28–9. Dayton (12) and Drake (6) have combine for 18 league titles since 1993. The first meeting was a 34–13 Flyers win in Des Moines on September 27, 1952. The teams played a two-game series in 1973 and 1974 with Dayton winning both meetings; a 16–9 victory in Dayton on October 27, 1973 and a 21–7 win in Des Moines on September 7, 1974. All three of the games occurred while both programs were fully funded NCAA Division I "major" programs. Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff Field is a 5,000-seat multi-purpose stadium in Poughkeepsie, New York. It is home to the Marist College Red Foxes football team. The field was named after Alex Leonidoff, a local physician and avid Marist Athletics supporter. The facility opened in 1968. At the conclusion of the 2006 football season, the existing grandstand was removed to make way for a more modern, updated facility including modern press boxes, luxury suites, home and away locker rooms, an athletic training room as well as a new concession stand. On October 6, 2007 began with the dedication of Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff Field.
