2011 Boise State Broncos Football Team
The 2011 Boise State Broncos football team represented Boise State University in the 2011 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Broncos were led by head coach Chris Petersen, winner of the 2010 Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Award, and played their home games at Bronco Stadium. This season was Boise State's first in the Mountain West Conference after spending the previous ten years in the Western Athletic Conference. They finished the season 12–1, 6–1 Mountain West play to finish in second place. They were invited the Maaco Bowl Las Vegas for the second consecutive year where they defeated Arizona State 56–24. Between 2008 and 2011, the Broncos went 50–3 to become the first team in FBS history to win 50 games in four years. Chris Petersen
Christopher Scott Petersen (born October 13, 1964) is a former American football coach who was most recently the head coach at the University of Washington. Previously the head coach for eight seasons at Boise State University, Petersen guided the Broncos to two BCS bowl wins: the (2006 Season) 2007 and (2009 Season) 2010 Fiesta Bowls. He is the first two-time winner of the Paul "Bear" Bryant Award, which he won in 2006 and 2009. Petersen also won the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Award in 2010. At Washington, Petersen led the Huskies to the College Football Playoff in 2016, but fell to Alabama in the Peach Bowl. The Bronko Nagurski Trophy has been awarded annually since 1993 to the collegiate American football defensive player adjudged by the membership of the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) to be the best in the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Tyler Shoemaker
Tyler Shoemaker (born September 14, 1988) is a former American football wide receiver. He played college football for Boise State, Tyler was a four year stand out player stacking up 2031 yards receiving on 122 catches with 25 touchdowns in college. He was known as a deep threat with a 16.6 yard per catch average. Shoemaker was often a favorite target of QB Kellen Moore, NCAA game footage of Tyler catching touchdowns appeared during Moore's 2012 featured guest spot on ESPN's "Grudens QB Camp". Billy Winn (American Football)
William Jesse Winn, Jr. (born April 15, 1989) is a former American football defensive end. He played college football at Boise State. He was considered one of the best defensive tackle prospects for the 2012 NFL Draft and was drafted in the sixth round by the Cleveland Browns. He has also played for the Indianapolis Colts. The 2010 Utah Utes football team represented the University of Utah during the 2010 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The team was coached by sixth year head coach Kyle Whittingham and played their homes game in Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City, Utah. The 2010 Maaco Bowl Las Vegas was an NCAA-sanctioned Division I FBS post-season college football bowl game. The game was played Wednesday, December 22, 2010, at 5 p.m. PST at 40,000-seat Sam Boyd Stadium near Las Vegas, broadcast on ESPN. The game featured Utah against Boise State. Teams Utah Utes Utah was one of the teams participating in the 2010 bowl.
