2011 Balkan Music Awards
The Second Annual Balkan Music Awards were held in Sofia, the capital city of Bulgaria for the second time. The previous year's main winner of the show with the title "Best Song of Balkans 2009" was Željko Joksimović with Ljubavi representing Serbia with 37 points, followed closely by Flori Mumajesi with Playback from Albania with 31 points. Helena Paparizou (; , ; born 31 January 1962) is a Swedish-born Greek singer, songwriter and television personality. Born and raised in Sweden to Greeks, Greek parents, she enrolled in various arts schools before launching a career in Sweden in 1999 as a member of the laïko (Greek folk music) and Eurodance duo Antique (band), Antique, who participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2001 and afterwards became popular. Nataša Bekvalac ( sr-cyr, Наташа Беквалац, , born 25 September 1980) is a Serbian singer from Novi Sad. She made her recording debut in 2001 and has since collectively released five studio albums. Early life Bekvalac was born on 25 September 1980 in Novi Sad, SFR Yugoslavia. She is the daughter of footballer and coach, Dragoljub Bekvalac. Bekvalac grew up as the middle child with two sisters. In 1989, she performed with the band Regina at the children's music festival Deca pevaju hitove. Damir "Dado" Polumenta (born 29 August 1982) is a Montenegrin and Serbian pop-folk recording artist. Life and career Polumenta was born into a Muslim family in Bijelo Polje, in northern Montenegro. His uncle Šako Polumenta is also a singer. In 2008 they released a duet single "Ljepša od noći" (''More Beautiful Than Night'') on Šako's album '' Sanjao sam san...''. Aleksandar Vuksanović ( sr-cyrl, Александар Вуксановић; born 3 November 1968), better known by his stage name Aca Lukas ( sr-cyr, Аца Лукас), is a Serbian pop-folk singer and musician. Career Vukasnović began his career in the early nineties by preforming alongside Serbian rock musician Viktorija and her band. His stage name comes from the Belgrade nightclub "Lukas", where he would sing during his beginnings. In 1994, Lukas released his debut album ''Ponos i laž'' (''Pride and Lie'') under ITV Melomarket. Elena Risteska ( mk, Елена Ристеска, ; born 27 April 1986), sometimes known as simply Elena, is a Macedonian singer. Colonia is a Croatian dance music duo from Vinkovci, Croatia. The band has released thirteen albums and over 35 singles to date with various songs and albums gaining platinum status. They are known for winning the first ever Eurodance competition in 2001 and their various hits throughout the years. History 1996–1997: Beginnings and ''Vatra i led'' Colonia was founded in 1996 by Boris Đurđević and Tomislav Jelić, two DJs from Vinkovci, Croatia. As the two of them did not sing, they later hired Indira "Ira" Vladić (from Županja) to become their vocalist.
