2011 24 Hours Of Spa
The 2011 Total S.A., Total 24 Hours of Spa was the 64th running of the 24 Hours of Spa. It was also the third round of the 2011 Blancpain Endurance Series season and was held over 30 and 31 July at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. The race was won by Greg Franchi, Timo Scheider, and Mattias Ekström of Audi Sport W Racing Team, Team WRT. Qualifying Most of the 62 qualifiers set their fastest times in the third qualifying session due to the fully dry track. In the previous two sessions it was a drying wet track. Qualifying result Class leaders are in bold, the fastest lap for each car is in gray. Race Race Result Class winners in bold. The 24 Hours of Spa is an Endurance racing (motorsport), endurance racing event for cars held annually since 1924 at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Stavelot, Belgium. It is currently sponsored by TotalEnergies. History The Spa 24 Hours was conceived by Jules de Their and Henri Langlois Van Ophem just one year after the inaugural 24 Hours of Le Mans was run. It debuted in 1924 over a circuit on public roads between the towns of Francorchamps, Malmedy and Stavelot, under the auspices of the Royal Automobile Club of Belgium (RACB). The present circuit was inaugurated in 1979 with only slight variations since then. Manthey Racing
Olaf Manthey (born 21 April 1955 in Bonn) is a German former race car driver, and current owner of Porsche team Manthey Racing. Manthey's career as a driver began in 1974. In the 1980s, he won two races of the Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft. Retiring as DTM racer after 1993, since 1994 he worked for Persson Motorsport in Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft, which ran Mercedes cars. After the DTM faltered in late 1996, he set up his own business near the Nürburgring, focusing on Porsche road cars and his team Manthey Racing in the German Porsche Carrera Cup, which he as driver had won in 1990, and in the Porsche Supercup. Ecurie Ecosse (French: "Scotland Stable") was a motor racing team from Edinburgh, Scotland. The team was founded in November 1951 by Edinburgh businessman and racing driver David Murray and mechanic Wilkie Wilkinson.
