2010–11 Yemeni League
The 2010–11 Yemeni League was the 19th edition of top-level football in Yemen. The season started in November 2010 and lasted until June 2011. The league winners qualified for the AFC Cup. The bottom four teams were relegated. Teams Al-Shula, Al-Wahda Aden, Salam Al-Garfa and Al Yarmuk Al Rawda were relegated to the second tier after finishing in the bottom four places of the 2009–10 Yemeni League season. They were replaced by Al-Sha'ab Hadramaut, Hassan Abyan, Al Rasheed Ta'izz and Al Sha'ab Sana'a. Yemeni League
Yemeni League is the top football division of the Yemen Football Association. It was created in 1990 after the unification of North and South Yemen. It was set up in a four-level system with Premier, First, Second and Third Division. 16 northern and 16 southern clubs entered the top level championship in the 1990–91 season. Previously, two separate championships were used for North Yemen and South Yemen. Currently, 14 clubs play at the top level, with four clubs being relegated to the 2nd tier. The season is generally run from early November to late June with the league winners entering the AFC Cup and Arab Champions League. The league has been cancelled since 2014 to 2021, due to the civil war which also stopped all other footballing activities in the Middle Eastern country. Ta'izz
Taiz ( ar, تَعِزّ, Taʿizz) is a city in southwestern Yemen. It is located in the Yemeni Highlands, near the port city of Mocha on the Red Sea, at an elevation of about above sea level. It is the capital of Taiz Governorate. With a population of over 600,000 in 2005, it is the largest city in Yemen in terms of population ahead of the capital Sana'a and the southern port city of Aden. Al-Wehda Sports & Cultural Club ( ar, نادي الوحدة الرياضي و الثقافي صنعاء) is a Yemeni football club based in Sana'a. Founded in 1954, Al-Wahda (which means "unity" in Arabic), is one of the most successful and famous clubs in Yemen, having won the Yemeni League four times since 1990. Zabid
Zabid ( ar, زَبِيد) (also spelled Zabīd, Zabeed and Zebid) is a town with an urban population of around 52,590 people on Yemen's western coastal plain. It is one of the oldest towns in Yemen, and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1993; though, in 2000, the site was placed on the List of World Heritage in Danger. The Great Mosque of Zabid, also known as Al-Asha'ir Mosque, was built in 628 AD by Abu Musa Ashaari, one of the followers of Muhammad. Ali Muhesen Stadium
Altawra Sports City Stadium ( ar, مدينة الثورة الرياضية), also known as the Ali Mohsen al-Muraisi Stadium ( ar, ملعب علي محسن المريسي), is a multi-purpose stadium in San‘a’, Yemen. It is currently used mostly for football matches. The stadium holds 30,000 people and was opened in 1986. It is currently the home ground of the Yemen national football team. Al-Ahli Club Sanaa () is a Yemeni football and basketball club based in Sanaa, Yemen. The club was founded in 1952. Al-Ahli has a fierce rivalry with local rivals Al-Wehda which manifests itself in the Al-Wahda versus Al-Ahli matches, known as "the Summit". Mukalla
Mukalla ( ar, ٱلْمُكَلَّا, ') is a seaport and the capital city of Yemen's largest governorate, Hadhramaut. The city is in the southern part of the Arabian Peninsula on the Gulf of Aden, on the shores of the Arabian Sea, about east of Aden.
