Lee Wai Sze
Sarah Lee Wai-sze, BBS, MH (; born 12 May 1987) is a Hong Kong professional track cyclist. Her greatest success to date is winning the bronze medal in the women's keirin at the 2012 London Olympics, Hong Kong's third- ever Olympic medal and first in cycling. She won a second Olympic bronze medal in the women's sprint at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, making her the first and only Hong Kong athlete to win medals in two different Olympic Games. Early years Lee was born on 12 May 1987 in Lower Ngau Tau Kok Estate, Hong Kong. She grew up in a poor family in Ngau Tau Kok, sharing a 200- square-foot public flat with her parents and two older siblings. Cameron Meyer (born 11 January 1988) is an Australian former professional racing cyclist, who competed as a professional from 2009 to 2022. Career Born in Viveash, Western Australia, Meyer started cycling at the age of 13 in 2001 and first represented his country at the World Junior Track Championships in 2005. He was an Australian Institute of Sport scholarship holder. Meyer won his first senior World Championship in the Points Race in Pruszków, Poland. In 2009 he was selected to ride the Giro d'Italia. Jinjie Gong
Gong Jinjie (, born 12 November 1986) is a Chinese professional track cyclist, a member of the provincial Jilin Team since 2002 and the Chinese National Team since 2005. Her coaches include Yongqing Wang () and Sean Eadie. Career Gong competed in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. She and Guo Shuang set a world record of 32.447 seconds in the qualification round of the team sprint event, which they then improved upon with 32.422 in the next round. They went on to finish first in the final against the German team, but were disqualified for an alleged "early relay", and were relegated to the silver medal instead. Gong and Guo's coach Daniel Morelon maintains that the pair were "robbed" of the gold medal, and described it as an "injustice". The team sprint (also sometimes known as the Olympic sprint) is a track cycling event. Despite its name, it is not a conventional cycling sprint event – it is a three-rider team time trial held over three laps of a velodrome. The current men's world record time is 41.225 seconds. This was set by the Netherlands team of Jeffrey Hoogland, Harrie Lavreysen and Roy van den Berg at the 2020 World Championships. Wendy Louise Houvenaghel (née McLean; born 27 November 1974) is a Northern Irish former racing cyclist from Upperlands, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland, riding on both the road and track, but specialising in the latter. She has represented Great Britain in various World Cycling Championships and in the 2008 Olympic Games, most notably winning the silver medal at the Beijing Olympic Games, and gold in the team pursuit at the 2008, 2009 and 2011 Track World Championships. Team Pursuit
The team pursuit is a track cycling event similar to the individual pursuit, except that two teams, each of up to four riders, compete, starting on opposite sides of the velodrome. Race format Both men's and women's events are competed over a distance of 4 km, by a team of 4 riders. Prior to the start of the 2012–13 season the women's event was competed over a distance of 3 km, by a team of 3 riders. As with the individual pursuit, the objective is to cover the distance in the fastest time or to catch and overtake the other team in a final. Riders in a team follow each other closely in line, drafting to minimize total drag, and periodically the lead rider (who works the hardest) peels off the front, swings up the track banking and rejoins the team at the rear. Tara Alice Whitten (born 13 July 1980) is a Canadian former racing cyclist. Career A former cross-country skier from Edmonton, Alberta, Whitten began track racing seriously in 2008 having dabbled in it since 2005. The same year she won the points race and individual pursuit at the Canadian National Track Championships, and also took the bronze medal in the scratch race and 500 meter time trial events. Whitten began the 2008–2009 track cycling season strongly, winning two silver medals at first round of the Track World Cup in Manchester, United Kingdom, in October. Shane William Archbold (born 2 February 1989) is a New Zealand professional racing cyclist who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . Career Born in Timaru, Archbold competed in the men's omnium at the 2012 Summer Olympics, and won the gold medal in the men's scratch race at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, along with bronze in the men's team pursuit. He was named in the start list for the 2016 Tour de France. During the 2016 Tour de France Shane crashed early on in the 17th stage and broke his pelvis but he struggled on to finish the stage.
