2010–11 QMJHL Season
The 2010–11 QMJHL season was the 42nd season of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). The regular season, which consisted of eighteen teams playing 68 games each, began on September 9, 2010 and ended on March 20, 2011. The playoffs featured 16 teams chasing the President's Cup, beginning on March 24, 2011, and ending with the Saint John Sea Dogs capturing the title on May 15, 2011. Quebec Major Junior Hockey League
The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (french: Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec; abbreviated ''QMJHL'' in English, ''LHJMQ'' in French) is one of the three major junior ice hockey leagues that constitute the Canadian Hockey League. The league includes teams in the provinces of Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island. The current president of the QMJHL is Gilles Courteau. The President's Cup is the championship trophy of the league. The QMJHL champion then goes on to compete in the Memorial Cup against the OHL and WHL champions, and the CHL host team. The QMJHL had traditionally adopted a rapid and offensive style of hockey. Former QMJHL players hold many of the Canadian Hockey League's career and single season offensive records. Québec Remparts
There have been two junior ice hockey franchises known as the Quebec Remparts (french: Remparts de Québec) that played in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). The first edition played from 1969 to 1985; the current franchise has played since 1997. Both franchises were based out of Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. The current team plays at Videotron Centre. The team is named after the Ramparts of Quebec City. Original Remparts The original Quebec Remparts team was founded in 1969 by a group of investors who purchased the assets of the junior Quebec Aces team. Some of the new owners included Paul Dumont, and Gérard Bolduc. The Remparts took up residence in the same arena as the Aces in the Colisée de Québec. The Remparts were finalists for the George Richardson Memorial Trophy in 1969–70, and eastern Canadian champions in 1970–71. Zack Phillips
Zack Phillips (born October 28, 1992) is a Canadians, Canadian professional ice hockey center (ice hockey), centre. He is currently playing for the British Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) side, Fife Flyers. Phillips was most recently with German Oberliga (ice hockey), Oberliga side Starbulls Rosenheim, and prior to that iced in Poland for JKH GKS Jastrzębie and TH Unia Oświęcim. Playing career Phillips played his junior hockey for the Saint John Sea Dogs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He was selected 28th overall in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft by the Minnesota Wild. On December 19, 2011, the Minnesota Wild signed Phillips to a three-year entry level contract. Jonathan Marchessault
Jonathan Marchessault (né Audy-Marchessault; born December 27, 1990) is a Canadian professional ice hockey forward for the Vegas Golden Knights of the National Hockey League (NHL). He has previously played for the Columbus Blue Jackets, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Florida Panthers. After being selected by the Golden Knights in the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft, Marchessault has been one of the key points of the team offense, and helped Vegas become the first expansion team to reach the Stanley Cup Finals in their inaugural season since the 1967-68 St. Louis Blues. During the 2018 season, he was signed by the Golden Knights to a six-year, $30 million contract extension. Sean Couturier
Sean Gerald Couturier ( ; born December 7, 1992) is an American-born Canadian professional ice hockey player and alternate captain for the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League (NHL). The Flyers selected him in the first round, eighth overall, in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. Couturier was born in Phoenix, Arizona, where his father was playing hockey at the time, but moved to Bathurst, New Brunswick after his father's retirement. He played minor ice hockey there for several years, but spent a year in the Saskatchewan AAA league after a failed tryout for the Quebec AAA roster. Ondřej Palát
Ondřej Palát (born 28 March 1991) is a Czech professional ice hockey winger and alternate captain for the New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was drafted in the seventh round, 208th overall, by the Tampa Bay Lightning at the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. Palát won back-to-back Stanley Cups with the Lightning in 2020 and 2021. Jonathan Huberdeau
Jonathan Huberdeau (born June 4, 1993) is a Canadian professional ice hockey winger and an alternate captain for the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League (NHL). Huberdeau was selected third overall by the Florida Panthers in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft and made his NHL debut with the team in 2013. Philip-Michael Devos
Philip-Michaël Devos (born April 26, 1990) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player currently playing for HC Ajoie of the National League (NL). Career Devos played five seasons (2006 – 2011) of major junior hockey in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), registering 112 goals, 294 points, and 194 minutes penalty minutes in 325 games played. On May 26, 2011, the Norfolk Admirals signed Devos on a two-year American Hockey League standard player's contract. He then joined AHL's Syracuse Crunch prior to the 2012-13 season. Baie-Comeau Drakkar
The Baie-Comeau Drakkar is a junior ice hockey team in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League that plays at Centre Henry-Leonard in Baie-Comeau, Quebec, Canada. The name "Drakkar" refers to a type of longship. History The Drakkar first played in the QMJHL in 1997–98 season. One of the founders of the team was former Quebec Nordique co-founder Marius Fortier. Baie-Comeau has never won the President's Cup, and with just seven winning seasons in their history. Chicoutimi Saguenéens
The Chicoutimi Saguenéens are a junior ice hockey team which plays in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). The team is based out of Chicoutimi, Quebec, Canada (now a part of the city of Saguenay) and owned by the City of Saguenay. The team plays its home games at the Centre Georges-Vézina. History The Chicoutimi Saguenéens franchise was granted for the 1973–74 season. The team's name, ''Saguenéens'', literally means "People from the Saguenay." The current junior team is only the most recent to use the name. The "Sags", as they are popularly nicknamed, have won the President's Cup twice in their history, in 1990–91 and in 1993–94.
