2010–11 National Premier League
The 2010–11 National Premier League (also known as the 2010–11 Digicel Premier League) is the highest competitive football league in Jamaica. The regular season began August 29, 2010 and will be completed May 1, 2011. The teams will play each other 3 times each then the final 5 games will be played amongst the top 6 and bottom 6; making it a total of 38 games each. Harbour View were the defending champions, having won their third Jamaican championship last season. Tropical storm Nicole caused a number of games to be postponed. Teams Rivoli United and August Town finished 11th and 12th at the end of last season and were relegated to lower leagues. Taking their places in the league this season are Benfica and Reno, which were the best two clubs in last season's second level promotion playoffs. National Premier League
The National Premier League, also known for sponsorship purposes as the Red Stripe Premier League, is sanctioned by the Jamaican Football Federation as the top division for men's association football in Jamaica. Contested between 12 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with Jamaica's regional Super Leagues where the two lowest placed teams are relegated to their corresponding local second division league. History The National Premier League was formed in 1973 to serve as the top tier of Jamaican professional club football. The league's inaugural season kicked off on September 22, 1973 as the ''Kingston Major League'', and finished with Santos F.C. as the first title winners. 13 different clubs have been crowned champions of Jamaica. Kingston, Jamaica
Kingston is the capital and largest city of Jamaica, located on the southeastern coast of the island. Navion Boyd
Navion Boyd (born 10 October 1986) is a Jamaican professional footballer who plays as a striker for Charleston Battery in the USL Professional Division on loan from Tivoli Gardens in the Jamaica National Premier League. Career Club Tivoli Gardens Boyd became member of his club's senior team, after being promoted from the U21 team. After starting the 2010–2011 season with outstanding form, Boyd suffered a shoulder injury which kept him out of action for eight weeks. He made his return to action on 15 December 2010. Boyd finished the 2010–2011 DPL season with 11 goals. Charleston Battery Boyd spent the 2012 season on loan to American club Charleston Battery along with Tivoli Gardens teammate Dane Kelly. Craig Foster (Jamaican Footballer)
Craig Foster (born 7 September 1991) is a Jamaican international footballer, who plays as a striker, most recently for Santa Tecla. Youth career Foster played in the Dacosta Cup for the Manning's School in Jamaica. Club career In 2010, Foster became a regular for Reno F.C. in the DPL. As January 2011, he is one of the top 5 goalscorers in the 2010/2011 DPL season. Foster finished the 2010/2011 DPL with 15 goals in his first season in the top flight. Foster was named league MVP while finishing 2nd in the race for the Golden Boot. Foster signed with Motala AIF during the summer of 2011. Foster returned to Reno at the end of the 2012 RSPL Season. Eastern Confederation Super League
The Eastern Confederation Super League is a second division football league in the nation of Jamaica. The ten teams that currently compete in the league are based in the parishes of Portland, St. Ann, St. Mary and St. Thomas. At the end of each season the winners qualify for the National Premier League Playoff along with the winners of the KSAFA Super League, South Central Confederation Super League and Western Confederation Super League. These four teams play each other, home and away, with the top two teams from this playoff being promoted to the Jamaica National Premier League. Falmouth, Jamaica
Falmouth ( jam, Falmot) is the chief town and capital of the parish of Trelawny in Jamaica. It is situated on Jamaica's north coast 18 miles east of Montego Bay. It is noted for being one of the Caribbean's best-preserved Georgian towns. Savanna-la-Mar
Savanna-la-Mar (commonly known as Sav-la-Mar, or simply Sav) is the chief town and capital of Westmoreland Parish, Jamaica. A coastal town, it contains an 18th-century fort constructed for colonial defence against pirates in the Caribbean. History Savanna-la-Mar was originally established as a settlement in Spanish Jamaica. In 1780, the town was completely destroyed by a powerful hurricane known as Savanna-la-Mar hurricane. Linval Dixon (born 14 September 1971 in Old Harbour Bay, Saint Catherine, Jamaica) is a retired Jamaican football defender and currently head coach at Portmore United. Player Club Dixon attended Clarendon College where he played on the school's team. In 1995, he signed with the Charleston Battery of the USISL. He moved to Hazard United in the fall of 1995 and played for them until 2002 when he returned to the Battery for two seasons in the USL A-League.
