2010–11 Liga EBA Season
The 2010–2011 Liga EBA season is the 17th edition of the Liga EBA. This is the fourth division of Spanish basketball. Four teams will be promoted to LEB Plata. The regular season (and all games before the final playoffs) started on 29 September 2010, and finished on 30 April 2011. Format Regular season The 80 teams are divided in five groups by geographical criteria. Group A is also divided in two: *Group A-A: Cantabria, Basque Country, La Rioja and Castile and León (except CB Zamora). *Group A-B: Galicia, Asturias and CB Zamora. *Group B: Madrid, Castilla–La Mancha and Canary Islands. *Group C: Catalonia and Aragón. *Group D: Andalusia and Extremadura. *Group E: Valencian Community, Region of Murcia and Balearic Islands. Group A Second phase The three best teams of groups A-A and A-B play a double leg play-off, and the winners qualify to the final play-off. Liga EBA
Liga Española de Baloncesto Aficionado (EBA), commonly known as Liga EBA, is a Spanish basketball championship that is the fourth tier level in the Spanish basketball league system, after the Liga ACB, LEB Oro, and LEB Plata. It is administered by the FEB. It was previously the Spanish second tier level competition from 1994 to 1996, the third tier level from 1996 to 2000, and the fifth tier level, from 2007 to 2009. The Liga EBA is made up of five inter-regional groups. After the regular season, sixteen teams advance to the playoffs, where only four teams are promoted to the LEB Plata. The lowest ranked teams of each group, are relegated to the Primera División. Obradoiro Clube de Amigos do Baloncesto (lit, Obradoiro Friends of Basketball Club), also known as Monbus Obradoiro for sponsorship reasons, is a professional basketball team based in Santiago de Compostela, Galicia. They currently compete in the ACB League. History Obradoiro CAB was founded in 1970 and started playing in the third division after acquiring the spot of the basketball section of SD Compostela. They were promoted for the first time to the Liga Nacional after finishing in the third position of the 1981–82 Primera División B. Xuventude Baloncesto
Club Xuventude Baloncesto is a basketball team based in Cambados, Galicia (Spain). The team currently plays in league LEB Plata. History Xuventude Cambados was founded by a group of friends in 1976. In 1999, Xuven promoted to Liga EBA, where it played four seasons before being relegated to Primera División. In 2009, the club came back to Liga EBA and in 2011 it qualified for the promotion playoffs to LEB Plata where, despite completing a 28–2 record in the regular season, it failed in the playoffs after losing in the finals to CE Sant Nicolau. In its second attempt, Xuven clinched the All-Liga EBA title after ending the whole season with a 21–2 record, thus promoting to LEB Plata. Agrupación de Baloncesto Pas, also known as Pas Piélagos, is a basketball team based in Renedo de Piélagos, Cantabria, Spain, who currently plays in Liga EBA. History AB Pas was founded in 1979 in Castañeda, Cantabria. In the 1983–84 season, Pas becomes runner-up of 1ª Autonómica League and promotes to the lowest national leagues. Askatuak Saki-Baloi Taldea is a basketball club based in San Sebastián, in the Basque Country of Spain, that plays in the Liga EBA. History The team competed for four years in the top Spanish league, one of them in the Liga ACB. They also played for the Korać Cup during two seasons. In 1993 Askatuak sold its 1ª División (second tier) spot to CB Salamanca. Years later, in 2001, the team resigned its berth in LEB Plata and was substituted as the first basketball team in San Sebastián by the new Gipuzkoa BC. Club Deportivo Estela is a basketball team based in Torrelavega, Cantabria, Spain. History Estela was founded in 1999 in Santander.
