2010–11 Kategoria Superiore
The 2010–11 Kategoria Superiore was the 72nd official season, or the 75th season of top-tier football in Albania (including three unofficial championships of WW2) and the thirteenth season under the name ''Kategoria Superiore''. The season began on 21 August 2010 and ended on 16 May 2011. Dinamo Tirana were the defending champions, having won their 18th Albanian championship last season. The championship was won by Skënderbeu, with Flamurtari and Vllaznia finishing second and third, respectively. On the bottom end of the table, Besa and Elbasani were directly relegated, while Shkumbini and Dinamo Tirana had to compete in the relegation playoffs. Teams Apolonia Fier and Gramozi were directly relegated to the Kategoria e Parë after finishing 11th and 12th in the previous year's standings. Kategoria Superiore
The Kategoria Superiore, officially known as Abissnet Superiore for sponsorship reasons, is a professional league for men's association football clubs. At the top of the Albanian football league system, it is the country's primary football competition. It is contested by 10 clubs, and operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Kategoria e Parë. Seasons run from August to May, with teams playing 36 matches each (playing each team in the league four times, twice at home and twice away). The competition was founded in 1930 as the Albanian National Championship during the reign of King Zog, shortly after the creation of the Albanian Football Association. Kavajë
Kavajë ( , sq-definite, Kavaja) is a municipality centrally located in the Western Lowlands region of Albania, in Tirana County. It borders Durrës to the north , Tiranë to the east and Rrogozhinë to the south . To the west lies the Adriatic Sea. KF Teuta Durrës
Klubi Futbollistik Teuta Durrës, commonly referred to as Teuta, is an Albanian professional football club based in Durrës. They currently compete in the Kategoria Superiore and they play their home games at the Niko Dovana Stadium. The club was founded on 29 January 1920 as ''Klubi Sportiv Urani'' (Uranium Sport Club), and they were a founding member of the Albanian National Championship in 1930, as well as runners-up in the 1931 National Championship. Football Club Kamza was a football club based in Kamëz, Albania. Founded on 10 September, the club has competed in the lower levels of Albanian football for much of its history, except for the 2011–12 season where they were promoted to the Kategoria Superiore for the first time but they were relegated in their debut season and have competed in the First Division since. History Background The first game of football to be played in Kamëz took place on 26 July 1908, as a celebration of the Young Turk Revolution which was triggered 16 days earlier by Ahmed Niyazi Bey, who was Albanian. KF Lushnja is an Albanian football club based in the city of Lushnjë in the County of Fier. Their home ground is the Abdurrahman Roza Haxhiu Stadium and they currently compete in the Kategoria e Parë. History Early history The club was originally formed in 1927 and the first football game held in the city of Lushnjë was played shortly after. This was a friendly game against Tomori Berat and the team consisted of young men from Lushnjë. The club was named Kongresi i Lushnjës following a proposal from a member of parliament and signatory of the Albanian Declaration of Independence Ferit Vokopola to name the club after the Congress of Lushnjë, which was where Vokopola himself was elected secretary. KS Kastrioti, also known as Kastrioti Krujë, is an Albanian football club based in the city of Krujë. The club's home ground is the Kastrioti Stadium which has a capacity of 8,000 spectators and they currently compete in the Kategoria Superiore. History Early history The club was founded in 1926 as the city of Krujë's main sports club. During a brief spell in 1949, the club was dissolved, but was quickly re-established under the name of the city, Krujë. KF Bylis, also known as Bylis Ballsh, is an Albanian football club based in Ballsh, Mallakastër District. The club's home ground is the Adush Muça Stadium and they currently compete in the Kategoria Superiore. History Early history The club was formed in September 1972 as Ballshi i Ri, and they played in the Albanian Third Division between 1973 and 1976. But between 1976 and 1981, they were not allowed to participate in Albanian football due to laws restricting a single team from each district. Kategoria e Parë is the second level of professional football in Albania, behind the Kategoria Superiore and above the Kategoria e Dytë. Format Kategoria e Parë was founded in 1930. It is made up of 14 teams. KS Gramozi Ersekë
KF Gramozi is an Albanian football club based in Ersekë in the Kolonjë District. History The club was founded in 1927 and competed in the lower divisions of Albanian football for much of its history. The club were crowned winners of the Albanian Second Division for the 2007–08 season, which led to their promotion to the Albanian First Division, the second tier. They were promoted to the Albanian Superliga for the first time at the end of the 2008–09 season, after beating Bylis Ballsh 5–2 in the playoff. The club achieved worldwide recognition in 2010 when they organised a friendly for the Taçi Oil Cup with Spanish giants Real Madrid in Tiranë.
