NCAA
The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) is a nonprofit organization that regulates student athletics among about 1,100 schools in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. It also organizes the athletic programs of colleges and universities in the United States and Canada and helps over 500,000 college student athletes who compete annually in college sports. The 2010–11 WCHA women's ice hockey season marked the continuation of the annual tradition of competitive ice hockey among Western Collegiate Hockey Association members. Offseason *June 18: Seven University of Minnesota players have been named to the United States Under-22 Team. Megan Bozek, Sarah Erickson, Amanda Kessel, Anne Schleper, Jen Schoullis and Emily West have all been named to the team. The Minnesota contingent is the largest group from one school. *June 29: In March 2012, Minnesota Duluth will be the host school for the 2012 NCAA Division l Frozen Four women's tournament. National Collegiate Women's Ice Hockey Championship
The annual NCAA women's ice hockey tournament—officially known as the National Collegiate Women's Ice Hockey Championship—is a college ice hockey tournament held in the United States by the National Collegiate Athletic Association to determine the top women's team in the NCAA. The 2020 championship was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Unlike most NCAA sports, women's ice hockey uses a modified version of the National Collegiate championship format, which means Division I and Division II teams compete against each other in the same tournament. Origins The NCAA championship of women's ice hockey began in 2001, although several universities had had women's teams established since the early 1970s. Jesse Scanzano
Jesse Scanzano (born October 15, 1988) is a Canadian retired ice hockey forward. She was selected fifth overall in the 2011 CWHL Draft. Mercyhurst's Jesse Scanzano was a three-time All-College Hockey America selection (2008-09, 2009-10, 2010-11) and a member of the CHA All-Rookie Team in 2007-08. She ranks No. 2 in career points (225) in CHA history. In her Junior year with Mercyhurst, Scanzano led the NCAA in points with 65. Scanzano played for the 2011–12 Canada women's national ice hockey team and appeared in the 2011 4 Nations Cup. Nicole Corriero
Mary Nicole Corriero (born 27 October 1983) is a Canadian 3-time All-American ice hockey forward and former captain of the Harvard Crimson women's ice hockey team. Corriero tied former Crimson player Jennifer Botterill's record for most points (10) in one NCAA game with on November 7, 2003, during the Union Dutchwomen vs. Harvard Crimson game. She continues to hold the NCAA Record for Goals Per Game in a Season with 1.64, set in the 2004–05 season where she scored 59 goals in 36 games. Corriero was nominated for an ESPN 'ESPY' Award in 2005 for Best Female Collegiate Athlete. Corriero became Premier Hockey Federation (PHF)'s Player Association Executive Director in 2022. Julia Kathrin Marty (born 16 April 1988) is a Swiss ice hockey player, currently playing in the Women's League (SWHL A) with EV Bomo Thun. She is a former eleven-season member of the Swiss national ice hockey team and served as captain for three seasons, including in the women's ice hockey tournament at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. Playing career Prior to her college ice hockey career, Marty played with EV Zug in the Leistungsklasse A (LKA), the top Swiss women's league, from 2003 to 2007. Ice hockey (or simply hockey) is a team sport played on ice skates, usually on an ice skating rink with lines and markings specific to the sport. It belongs to a family of sports called hockey. Stefanie Marty
Stefanie Andrea Marty (born 16 April 1988) is a Swiss retired ice hockey player who currently serves as assistant coach to SC Reinach of the SWHL A. She was a member of the Swiss national team from 2003 until her retirement in 2017. With the Swiss national team, she won bronze medals at the 2014 Olympic Games and the 2012 IIHF Women's World Championship. At the 2010 Olympic Games, Marty scored 9 goals and tied with Meghan Agosta of Team Canada as top goal scorer of the tournament.
