2009–10 Australian Cricket Season
The 2009–10 Australian cricket season consists of international matches played by the Australian cricket team in Australia as well as Australian domestic cricket matches under the auspices of Cricket Australia. Australian Cricket Team West Indies will tour Australia between November and February in a three-Test tour as well as ODIs and Twenty-20 matches. Pakistan will tour Australia between December and February in a three-Test tour as well as ODIs and Twenty-20 matches. New Zealand women will tour Australia in February 2010 for ODI and Twenty-20 series. Sheffield Shield The Sheffield Shield will open on 13 October 2009 with matches between South Australia and Tasmania in Adelaide and Western Australia and Queensland in Perth. Cricket Australia (CA), formerly known as the Australian Cricket Board (ACB), is the governing body for professional and amateur cricket in Australia. Ryobi One-Day Cup
The One-Day Cup, known as the Marsh One-Day Cup for sponsorship reasons, is an Australian domestic List A 50-over limited-overs cricket tournament. It has had many different names, formats and teams since the inaugural 1969-1970 season. Initially a knockout cup, the competition now features a single round-robin followed by a finals series. The tournament is contested between teams representing the six states of Australia, who also compete in the first-class Sheffield Shield. Three other teams have also played in the tournament for short periods of time: New Zealand's national team competed from 1969–70 until the 1974–75, Australian Capital Territory participated from 1997–98 until 1999–2000, and a select Cricket Australia XI took part as the seventh team for three seasons from 2015–16 until 2017–18. The Queensland cricket team or the Queensland Bulls is the Brisbane-based Queensland representative cricket side in Australia's domestic cricket tournaments: *Sheffield Shield: four-day matches with first-class status, since the 1926–27 season *Marsh One-Day Cup: a one-day (fifty over per side) tournament with List-A status, since its inception in 1969–70 *KFC Twenty20 Big Bash: a twenty overs per side tournament from 2005–06 to 2010–11. Tasmanian Tigers
The Tasmanian cricket team, nicknamed the Tigers, represents the Australian state of Tasmania in cricket. They compete annually in the Australian domestic senior men's cricket season, which consists of the first-class Sheffield Shield and the limited overs Matador BBQs One-Day Cup. Tasmania played in the first first-class cricket match in Australia against Victoria in 1851, which they won by three wickets. Despite winning their first match, and producing many fine cricketers in the late 19th century, Tasmania was overlooked when the participants in Australian first-class tournament known as the Sheffield Shield were chosen in 1892.
