2010 World Netball Series
The 2010 World Netball Series was the second edition of the World Netball Series, an annual international netball competition held under fastnet rules. The 2010 event was held in Liverpool, England, and was contested between the top six national netball teams according to the IFNA World Rankings. After two days of round-robin matches, Jamaica and England finished on top of the standings. However, the 2010 tournament was won by New Zealand, who defeated Jamaica in the semi-final and England in the grand final. 2009 World Netball Series
The 2009 World Netball Series was the inaugural tournament of the World Netball Series. The 2009 Series was held at MEN Arena in Manchester, England from 9–11 October, and was the first major trial of the new FastNet rules that were announced by the International Federation of Netball Associations (IFNA) in 2008. New Zealand won the 2009 tournament with a 32–27 victory over Jamaica in the gold medal playoff. Organisation The 2009 World Netball Series was played under FastNet rules, which were designed to make games faster and more television-friendly, with the ultimate aim of raising the sport's profile and attracting more spectators and greater sponsorship. Ashleigh Brazill
Ashleigh Brazill (born 29 December 1989 in Campbelltown, New South Wales) is an Australian netball and AFL Women's player, playing both sports concurrently for Collingwood Football Club. She has played for the West Coast Fever and New South Wales Swifts previously in her netball career. Netball career Domestic Brazill made her domestic league debut for the New South Wales Swifts in 2010. She made the move to the West Coast Fever in 2012 and made an immediate impact, winning the club's MVP for the season. Brazill suffered with injuries over the next two seasons which restricted her time on court. Despite sitting out most of the 2014 ANZ Championship season Brazill captained Western Sting, leading the Fevers' reserves team to a bronze medal in the second-tier Australian Netball League (ANL). Grace Rasmussen
Grace Kara ( née Rasmussen; born 18 March 1988 in Auckland, New Zealand) is a New Zealand netball player of Samoan descent. Kara played in the National Bank Cup for the Auckland Diamonds from 2005 to 2007. She continued playing in Auckland for the Northern Mystics in the ANZ Championship, starting in 2008. She is the younger sister of fellow Mystics player Rachel Rasmussen and she is also the older sister of Ann-Helen Rasmussen. Kara was a member of the New Zealand U21 team from 2004 to 2009, winning gold (2005) and silver (2009) medals at the World Youth National Championships. In 2009, she travelled with the senior national team, the Silver Ferns, as a member of their extended training squad. Jessica Moulds
Jessica Maclennan (née Moulds; born 8 November 1989 in Helensville, New Zealand) is a New Zealand netball player, who currently plays for the Mainland Tactix in the ANZ Premiership. Formerly a shooter, she can play in the GK and GD positions. Maclennan formally played for the Northern Mystics, before joining the Tactix in 2014. Maclennan played for the Fastnet Ferns in the 2010 World Netball Series, where she won a gold medal. She was also a part of the 2009 New Zealand U21 team, where she won a silver medal at the World Youth Championships. Camilla Lees
Camilla Lees (born 27 March 1989 in Pukekohe, New Zealand) is a New Zealand netball player. Lees made her debut in the ANZ Championship with the Central Pulse in 2009, after initially being considered for the Canterbury Tactix. She made the New Zealand U21 team in 2007, and won a silver medal with the team at the 2009 World Youth Netball Championships in the Cook Islands. Her performance in the Pulse midcourt also earned her a spot in the Silver Ferns that year, and the FastNet Ferns the following year. She was recalled to the Silver Ferns for the 2011 test series against England as cover for the injured Grace Rasmussen. Charlotte Kight
Charlotte Kight (born 8 June 1988 in Dannevirke, New Zealand) is a New Zealand netball player. Kight started in the National Bank Cup with the Western Flyers in 2005, under head coach Yvette McCausland-Durie. She played with the Flyers for two years, before moving to the Canterbury Flames for the final year of the competition in 2007. With the start of the ANZ Championship in 2008, she continued to play with the Canterbury franchise, which changed their name to the Canterbury Tactix. At international level, Kight played with the New Zealand U21 team from 2006 to 2009. She was also selected for the senior national team, the Silver Ferns in 2009, although she was not capped. Ellen Halpenny
Ellen Halpenny (born 25 July 1990) is a former New Zealand netball international. She was a member of the New Zealand team that were silver medalists at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. During the ANZ Championship era, Halpenny played for Canterbury Tactix and Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic. She subsequently played for Scottish Sirens during the 2017 Netball Superleague season. Kayla Malvina Johnson (née Cullen, born 13 February 1992) is a New Zealand netball player. As a high school student, Cullen played representative netball and basketball, and competed at a national level in athletics. In 2008, she was selected in the New Zealand U21 netball team, and was a member of the side that finished second at the 2009 World Youth Netball Championships, behind Australia. Maree Bowden (née Grubb; born 20 November 1979 in Clyde, New Zealand) is a New Zealand international netball player. Bowden played with the Canterbury Flames in the National Bank Cup from 1999 to 2007. She continued with the Canterbury franchise, which became the Canterbury Tactix, when the ANZ Championship began in 2008. With the retirement of long-standing Canterbury captain Julie Seymour after the 2009 season, in 2010 Bowden was given the captaincy role of the Tactix. April Brandley (née Letton; born 19 April 1990) is a professional Australian netball player in the Suncorp Super Netball league. She plays in the positions of GK, GD and WD, and has been selected on several occasions for the Australia national netball team. Career Domestic Brandley was a temporary replacement player for the Queensland Firebirds in 2011 and played for the New South Wales Swifts in 2012. At the end of the 2014 ANZ Championship season, Brandley signed with the Perth-based West Coast Fever for two seasons. Since 2017 she has played for the Collingwood Magpies.
