2010 West Texas Roughnecks Season
The West Texas Roughnecks season was the team's seventh season as a professional indoor football franchise and first in the Indoor Football League (IFL). One of twenty-five teams competing in the IFL for the 2010 season, the Odessa, Texas-based West Texas Roughnecks were members of the Lonestar West Division of the Intense Conference. Under the leadership of head coach Chris Williams, the team played their home games at the Ector County Coliseum in Odessa, Texas. The Roughnecks lost to the Amarillo Venom 36–56 in the Intense Conference Wild Card round. Ector County Coliseum
The Ector County Coliseum is a 5,131 seat multi-purpose arena in Odessa, Texas. Tenants It is home to the Odessa Jackalopes (North American Hockey League), the West Texas Warbirds (Champions Indoor Football), the Sand Hills Rodeo, and the biennial Permian Basin International Oil Show. Each January the arena hosts a major rodeo, and the animals are kept in a large hall at one end of the arena. This is the same area that, before hockey games, group picnics are served to as many as 500 people. In 2019, the arena became home to the FC West Texas Rumbleweeds indoor soccer team. One of twenty-five teams competing in the IFL for the 2010 season, the Corpus Christi, Texas-based Corpus Christi Hammerheads were members of the Lonestar East Division of the Intense Conference. Under the leadership of head coach Stephen Fillmore, the team played their home games at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas. The Hammerheads lost to the Arkansas Diamonds 29-44 in the Intense Conference quarterfinals. Tommy Jones (quarterback)
Thomas Jones (born August 3, 1979) is a professional gridiron football quarterback who is currently a free agent. After a standout prep career at Eaton High School where he played football, basketball and baseball, Jones continued his football career at Indiana University. After taking a red-shirt his freshman year, Jones split first team practice reps with Antwaan Randle El. Head Coach Cam Cameron ultimately decided on Randle-El, and Jones appeared in just 3 games as a red-shirt freshman. During his sophomore season, there was once again training camp talk of Jones starting over Randle-El, and once again Jones was named the backup, playing 6 games. His junior season, he was named the starting quarterback and Randle-El moved to wide receiver. Jones completed 18 of 31 passes and had one touchdown, but was benched the following week as the offense didn't take off as well had Cameron had hoped. The Luedecke Arena is a 6,400-seat multi-purpose arena on the grounds of the Travis County, Texas, Travis County Exposition Center in Austin, Texas. Built in 1983, the arena is home to the Star of Texas Fair & Rodeo, the Republic of Texas Biker Rally and the Austin Power indoor soccer team. The arena was formerly home to the Austin Ice Bats ice hockey team from 1996 to 2006. 2010 Arkansas Diamonds Season
The 2010 Arkansas Diamonds season was the franchise's eleventh season as a football franchise, first in the Indoor Football League, and only season as the "Arkansas Diamonds". The team, led by head coach Danton Barto, played their home games at the Verizon Arena in North Little Rock, Arkansas. The Diamonds finished the regular season with an 11-3 record (6-1 in division play) and first place in the 2010 Lonestar East Division. The team's playoff run ended with a loss to the Billings Outlaws in the Intense Conference Finals. For the 2011 season, the team relocated to Texas as the Allen Wranglers.
