2010 United States House Of Representatives Elections In Oregon
The 2010 United States House of Representatives elections in Oregon were held on November 2, 2010, to determine who would represent the state of Oregon in the United States House of Representatives. Oregon has five seats in the House, apportioned according to the 2000 United States Census. All five incumbents, four Democrats and one Republican, were re-elected to another term. Representatives were elected for two-year terms to serve in the 112th Congress from January 3, 2011 until January 3, 2013; however, re-elected Congressman David Wu resigned partway through his term on August 3, 2011, and a special election was held to fill the rest of his unexpired term. A primary election for Democrats and Republicans was held on May 18. Other parties have other procedures for nominating candidates. The Libertarian Party of Oregon is a political party representing the national Libertarian Party in the U.S. state of Oregon. It is organized as a minor party for state election law, and recognized by the Oregon as a statewide nominating party. The Oregon Progressive Party is a political party in the U.S. state of Oregon. Originally called the Oregon Peace Party, it was accepted as the sixth minor statewide political party in Oregon on August 22, 2008. Oregon's 5th Congressional District
Oregon's 5th congressional district represents Oregon's central coast through Salem, north to the southern Portland suburbs – including a sliver of Portland itself – and east to the summit of Mount Hood. It includes Lincoln, Marion, and Polk Counties; most of Clackamas and Tillamook Counties; and parts of Benton and Multnomah Counties. Oregon's 4th Congressional District
Oregon's 4th congressional district represents the southern half of Oregon's coastal counties, including Coos, Curry, Douglas, Lane, and Benton counties and most of Linn and Josephine counties. It is centered around the state's two college towns, Eugene and Corvallis, homes to the University of Oregon and Oregon State University, respectively.
