2010 United States House Of Representatives Elections In Michigan
Elections were held on November 2, 2010, to determine Michigan's 15 members of the United States House of Representatives. Representatives were elected for two-year terms to serve in the 112th United States Congress from January 3, 2011, until January 3, 2013. Primary elections were held on August 3, 2010. Of the 15 elections, the 1st, 7th and 9th districts were rated as competitive by '' Sabato's Crystal Ball'', ''CQ Politics'' and ''The Rothenberg Political Report'', while ''The Cook Political Report'' rated the 1st, 3rd, 7th and 9th districts as competitive. Three of Michigan's fifteen incumbents (Bart Stupak of the 1st district, Pete Hoekstra of the 2nd district and Vern Ehlers of the 3rd district) did not seek re-election. Of the twelve who did, one (Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick of the 13th district) was not renominated by her party, and one (Mark Schauer of the 7th district) was unsuccessful in the general election. Michigan's 2nd Congressional District
Michigan's 2nd congressional district is a United States congressional district in Western Michigan. The current 2nd district contains much of Michigan's old 4th congressional district, and includes all of Manistee, Mason, Lake, Osceola, Clare, Gladwin, Oceana, Newaygo, Mecosta, Isabella, Montcalm, Gratiot, Ionia, and Barry counties, as well as portions of Midland, Wexford, Muskegon, Kent, and Eaton counties. The Green Party of the United States (GPUS) is a federation of Green state political parties in the United States. Mark Schauer
Mark Hamilton Schauer (born October 2, 1961) is an American politician who served as a U.S. representative for from 2009 to 2011. Schauer was previously a member of the Michigan House of Representatives from 1997 to 2002 and a member of the Michigan Senate from 2003 to 2009, where he served as the Minority Leader from 2007 to 2009. In each legislative body, he represented Battle Creek and its surrounding region. In 2008, he was elected to the House of Representatives, defeating Republican incumbent Tim Walberg by 48.8% to 46.5%. Michigan's 13th Congressional District
Michigan's 13th congressional district is a United States congressional district in Wayne County, Michigan. It is currently represented by Democrat Shri Thanedar. The district includes portions of Detroit and some of its suburbs, and it was the only congressional district in Michigan to be contained within a single county in the 2012 redistricting. District boundaries were redrawn in 1993 and 2003 due to reapportionment following the censuses of 1990 and 2000. A special election was held on November 6, 2018, following the resignation of Representative John Conyers. Brenda Jones won the special election to fill the remainder of Conyers term in the 115th Congress. Democrat Rashida Tlaib won the regular election for the term in the 116th Congress.
