2010 Southern Conference Baseball Tournament
The 2010 Southern Conference Baseball Tournament was held at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park in Charleston, SC from May 26 through May 30. Top seeded The Citadel won the tournament and earned the Southern Conference's automatic bid to the 2010 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament. It was The Citadel's eighth SoCon tournament win. The tournament used a double-elimination format. Only the top eight teams participate, so Wofford, UNC Greensboro, and Davidson were not in the field. Double-elimination Tournament
A double-elimination tournament is a type of elimination tournament competition in which a participant ceases to be eligible to win the tournament's championship upon having lost ''two'' games or matches. It stands in contrast to a single-elimination tournament, in which only ''one'' defeat results in elimination. Fred Jordan (baseball)
Fred Jordan (born ) is an American college baseball coach, who was the 26th Head Coach of The Citadel Bulldogs baseball team, located in Charleston, South Carolina, he held that position from 1992–2017. Jordan is a 1979 graduate of The Citadel. His career coaching record at The Citadel was 831 wins and 706 losses; he is the winningest coach in Citadel and Southern Conference history as well as 5th at The Citadel in winning percentage. Under Jordan, The Citadel appeared in 7 NCAA Regionals, won 7 Southern Conference baseball tournament championships and claimed 5 SoCon regular season championships. The Citadel Bulldogs Baseball
The Citadel Bulldogs baseball team represents The Citadel in college baseball. They are classified as NCAA Division I and play in the Southern Conference. The Bulldogs are led by Tony Skole, who will lead his first season in 2018. They made their one appearance in the College World Series in 1990. They are the first and through 2022 only military school to appear in the College World Series. The Citadel has claimed eight Southern Conference baseball tournament titles and produced seven major league players. Facilities The Bulldogs play their games at Joseph P. Riley Jr. Park located just outside The Citadel campus in Charleston, SC. They share the facility with the Class A Charleston RiverDogs, and have permanent rights to play in the stadium as it was built on formerly Citadel-owned land. The Southern Conference baseball tournament is the conference championship tournament in baseball for the Southern Conference. The winner of the tournament receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division I baseball tournament. Randall Asher Wojciechowski ( ; born December 21, 1988) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Houston Astros, Cincinnati Reds, Baltimore Orioles, and New York Yankees. Early life Wojciechowski was born in Hardeeville, South Carolina. In his younger years, he lived in Pensacola, Florida, Sturgis, Michigan, and the Dominican Republic. The Wojciechowskis moved to Romania when Asher was nine. Living abroad, he played soccer, and joined Little League Baseball when it expanded to Bucharest when he was 11. The team played in a tournament similar to the Little League World Series in Poland.
