2010 ITU World Championship Series
The Dextro Energy Triathlon – ITU World Championship Series 2010 was a series of six World Championship Triathlon Events leading to a Grand Final held in Budapest, Hungary in September 2010. The Series was organised under the auspices of the world governing body of triathlon – the International Triathlon Union (ITU) – and was sponsored by the company Dextro Energy. Series events The series touched down on three continents, stopping in some locations used in the 2009 series, as well as some new ones. Budapest was a successful new venue for the ITU World Cup/World Championships. Results Overall world championship Points were distributed at each World Championship Event to the top 40 finishers in the men's and women's elite races, and to the top 50 finishers at the Grand Final. ITU World Triathlon Series
The World Triathlon Championship Series is World Triathlon's annual series of triathlon events used to crown an annual world champion since 2008. There are multiple rounds of competitions culminating in a Grand Final race. Athletes compete head-to-head for points in these races that will determine the overall World Triathlon champion. The elite championship races are held, with one exception, over two distances, the standard or 'Olympic' distance (1.5 km swim, 40 km bike, 10 km run) and the sprint distance (750 m swim, 20 km bike, 5 km run). The ITU (the former name of World Triathlon) world champion between 1989 and 2008 had been decided in a single annual championship race. Since 2018 a mixed relay series has been run in tandem, where national teams compete in mixed team relays for prize money and Olympic qualifying points. 2009 ITU Triathlon World Cup
The 2009 ITU Triathlon World Cup was a series of triathlon races organised by the International Triathlon Union (ITU) for elite-level triathletes to be held during the 2009 season. For 2009, five races were announced as part of the World Cup series. Each race was held over a distance of 1500 m swim, 40 km cycle, 10 km run (an Olympic-distance triathlon). Alongside a prize purse, points were awarded at each race contributing towards the overall ITU Triathlon World Championships point totals; which was a change in format to the World Cup series of prior years. Paula Findlay
Paula Findlay (born May 26, 1989) is a Canadian triathlete. Life and career Findlay was born in Edmonton, Alberta. On September 9, 2009, Findlay competed at the Dextro Energy Triathlon - ITU World Championship Grand Final in Gold Coast, Australia. She placed third in the under 23 women race. In April 2010, Findlay won the 2010 Monterrey ITU Triathlon World Cup Elite Women's race. She also had a victory at the June 26th Coteau-du-Lac ITU Triathlon Pan American Cup. On July 24, Findlay won the ITU World Championship Series event held in London. She then won the ITU Triathlon World Championships Series event in Kitzbühel on August 14, making Findlay the only female triathlete to win consecutive ITU World Championship Series events in 2010. João Pedro Lopes da Silva (born 15 May 1989) is a Portuguese professional triathlete. He was European U-23 Champion in 2008, 2010 and 2011, National Junior Champion in 2006 and 2007 and the National U-23 Champion in 2008.
