2010 Formula BMW Europe Season
The 2010 Formula BMW Europe season was the third and final season of the Formula BMW Europe championship. The championship began on 8 May at Barcelona and finished on 12 September at Monza. The series was axed at the end of the season, in favour of a new Formula BMW Talent Cup starting in 2011. The season was dominated by two drivers in their second season of competing in the championship, Robin Frijns of Josef Kaufmann Racing and Jack Harvey of Fortec Motorsport. Heading into the final round at Monza, Harvey held a seven-point lead over Frijns, but after taking pole position for both races, Harvey's chances took a hit after Javier Tarancón tried to outbrake him into the final corner and collided with him. Frijns won the race, and then a third place for him in the final race to Harvey's victory allowed the Kaufmann driver to claim the championship by eleven points, despite taking six wins to Harvey's seven, with both drivers taking thirteen podiums. Formula BMW
Formula BMW was a junior racing formula for single seater cars. It was positioned at the bottom of the motorsport career ladder alongside the longer established Formula Ford category. Like Formula Ford, it was intended to function as the young kart racing graduate's first experience of car racing. The new formula was created by BMW Motorsport in 2001, with the first of its championships being inaugurated in Germany in 2002. Selected competitors from each series meet in the World Final at the end of each season, with the promise of a Formula One test for the winner. From 2011 onwards BMW ceased to support the Pacific and Europe series, in favour of the Formula BMW Talent Cup. Josef Kaufmann Racing
Josef Kaufmann Racing is a motorsport team from Germany. It mainly operates in the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 as well as Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup. The team was founded in 1982. History In 1982, Josef Kaufmann Racing was founded by Josef Kaufmann, who was a racing driver and raced in his own team in the German Formula Three Championship. In the first year of the team's existence Gerhard Berger and Kaufmann finished third and fourth respectively in the German Formula 3. Côme Ledogar (born 23 May 1991) is a professional racing driver from France. He is best known for winning the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup overall title in 2016, with Robert Bell and Shane van Gisbergen, and for winning the 2021 24 Hours of Spa overall and the 2021 24 Hours of Le Mans in the GTE Pro class. Facundo "Facu" Regalia (born 23 November 1991 in Buenos Aires) is an Argentine racing driver. He competed in his first two Formula BMW seasons under a Spanish racing licence. Career Karting Regalia began karting in 2006 and raced primarily in Spain for the majority of his career. Akshay Luciano Bacheta (born 26 April 1990 in Romford, England) is a British professional racecar driver, born to Indian parents with Italian ancestry. Career Bacheta started karting at the age of fourteen in 2004 and stepped up to cars in 2005, racing in the Junior Ginetta series, recording six wins and the most fastest laps and pole positions. Dustin Sofyan (born 29 July 1994) is an Indonesian racing driver. Career Karting He won third place in the Asian Karting Open Championship - ROK Junior 2006. Javier Tarancón (born 23 November 1991) is a Spanish racing driver who has raced in karting, Formula BMW and Formula Renault. His career began in 2000 at the age of 8. Career Karting In 2000, Tarancón finished 10th in the Catalonia Karting Championship but won the Social Vendrell Karting Championship.
