2010 Faroe Islands Cup
The 2010 Faroe Islands Cup started on 20 March 2010 and ended with the final on 6 August 2010. The defending champions were Víkingur Gøta, who won their first cup title in 2009. The Cup was won by EB/Streymur after they beat ÍF Fuglafjørður in the final. With the victory, EB/Streymur qualified for the second qualifying round of the 2011–12 UEFA Europa League. Only the first teams of Faroese football clubs were allowed to participate. The Preliminary Round involved only teams from first, second and third deild. Teams from the highest division entered the competition in the first round. Preliminary round These fixtures involve clubs below the Faroe Islands Premier League. EB/Streymur is a Faroe Islands, Faroese semi-professional association football, football club based in Streymnes and Eiði. The club was founded in 1993, as result of the merger between Eiðis Bóltfelag, EB and Ítróttarfelagið Streymur, Streymur. They have won the Faroe Islands Premier League twice and the Faroe Islands Cup four times. History The club is a result of a merger in 1993 between Eiðis Bóltfelag, who were founded on 23 February 1913, and Ítróttarfelagid Streymur, Streymur, founded in 1976. Prior to the merger, both Eiðis Bóltfelag, EB Eiði and Streymur usually played their football in the second or third division. After the merger in 1993, the team still resided in the lower divisions, but this soon changed. B36 Tórshavn ( fo, Bóltfelagið 1936 Tórshavn) is a Faroe Islands, Faroese semi professional Association football, football club based in the capital of Tórshavn, playing in the Faroe Islands Premier League, the top tier of Faroese football. B36 Tórshavn has always played its home games in Gundadalur. Originally all Faroese football teams played on gravel grounds, but starting in the late 1980s the grounds were changed into second generation artificial turf. All the artificial pitches have been changed into third generation artificial turf, approved by FIFA.
