2010 Donegal Senior Football Championship
The 2010 Donegal Senior Football Championship was contested by senior Gaelic football clubs under the auspices of Donegal GAA. Naomh Conaill were 2010 Champions, their second ever title. Quarter-finals The quarter-finals were played on Saturday 17 July, Saturday 24 July and Sunday 25 July. Semi-finals Final Naomh Conaill won the final at MacCumhaill Park in Ballybofey. The Donegal Champions went on to reach the final of the 2010 Ulster Senior Club Football Championship, knocking out Cavan champions Kingscourt, Monaghan champions Clontibret O'Neills and Tyrone champions Coalisland along the way. The Donegal County Board ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Coiste Dhún na nGall) or Donegal GAA is one of 32 county boards of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) in Ireland, and is responsible for the administration of Gaelic games in County Donegal. The County Board is responsible for preparing the Donegal county teams in the various Gaelic sporting codes; football, hurling, camogie and handball. The county football team was the third from the province of Ulster to win an All-Ireland Senior Football Championship (SFC), following Cavan and Down. CLG An Clochán Liath
CLG An Clochán Liath is a Gaelic football only GAA club based in An Clochán Liath, a Gaeltacht town in County Donegal, Ireland. The club fields both men's and ladies' teams at underage to Senior level. However, they currently play at intermediate level. The club were relegated to intermediate after 33 years in the 2020 Donegal Senior Football Championship. History An Clochán Liath have won the Donegal Senior Football Championship on seven occasions, the last coming in 1958. The club has had two players selected to the All-Ireland SFC All Star team: All-Ireland winning full forward Tony Boyle in 1992 and Adrian Sweeney in 2003. Noel McCole was the goalkeeper on the 1974 and 1983 Ulster Championship winning teams for Donegal, although he had transferred to St. Eunan's in 1979. Leo McLoone
Leo McLoone (born 1989) is an Irish Gaelic footballer who plays for Naomh Conaill and also, formerly, the Donegal county team. A versatile player, often employed as a forward, he has been an important source of goals for club and county. McLoone made 109 appearances for his county, winning five Ulster Senior Football Championships and one All-Ireland Senior Football Championship. He was "the last of that famous Naomh Conaill four that also included Anthony Thompson, Dermot Molloy and Marty Boyle" to retire from inter-county football, doing so, as has been his custom, without making a public announcement. Malin GAA
Malin GAA is a Gaelic games club based in Malin in County Donegal, Ireland. It is the northernmost GAA club in Ireland. This tends to cause logistical struggles during the league as many of their rivals are a great distance away. One example of the distance travelled would be the 320-kilometre round trip required to play an away fixture to Naomh Columba. Clontibret O'Neills Gaelic Athletic Association is a Gaelic football, hurling, camogie and ladies' Gaelic football club based in Clontibret, County Monaghan, Ireland. History A team existed in the area, named after Hugh O'Neill, Earl of Tyrone in 1896. In 1906, variously called Clontibret O'Neills or Doohamlet O'Neills, another team is recorded. Ulster Senior Club Football Championship
The Ulster Senior Club Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football competition played between the top clubs in Ulster GAA. The trophy awarded to the winners is the Seamus McFerran Cup ( ga, Corn Shéamuis Mhic Fearáin). The winners and the Connacht, Leinster, Munster and London champions compete in the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship. Glen are the current champions, having beaten Kilcoo in the 2022 final. Crossmaglen Rangers from Armagh have won the most titles with eleven wins. Ballybofey
Ballybofey ( , ; ) is a town located on the south bank of the River Finn, County Donegal, Ireland. Together with the smaller town of Stranorlar on the north side of the River Finn, the towns form the Twin Towns of Ballybofey-Stranorlar. Ballybofey-Stranorlar, a census town, had a population of 4,852 in 2016. History A few miles west of Ballybofey, on the main road to Fintown (the R252 regional road), is the Glenmore Estate, located at Welchtown. The estate formerly included Glenmore Lodge, a country house that stood on the opposite, southern bank of the River Finn, near Glenmore Bridge. The house was originally built in the Georgian-style in the mid-to-late-18th-century. It was reworked for Sir William Styles in the neo-Tudor-style in the early 20th century. St Michael's (''CLG Naomh Mícheál'') is a GAA club based in Creeslough/Dunfanaghy in County Donegal. Located in the north of the county, the club is affected by rural issues such as low population and emigration; despite this they play at the top level in the Donegal Senior Football Championship and opened a new clubhouse in 2010.
