2009–10 Texas Tech Red Raiders Basketball Team
The 2009-10 Texas Tech Red Raiders men's basketball team represented Texas Tech University in the 2009-10 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Red Raiders' were led by Pat Knight in his second full season as head coach. The team played its home games in the United Spirit Arena in Lubbock, Texas and are members of the Big 12 Conference. They finished the season 19–16, 4–12 in Big 12 play. They advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2010 Big 12 men's basketball tournament before falling to #1 Kansas. Pat Knight
Patrick Clair Knight (born September 21, 1970) is an American basketball coach and scout. He is a scout for the Indiana Pacers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Knight assumed his position on July 1, 2014, and is the Pacers' college scout for the West Coast Region. Formerly, he was an American college basketball coach. He became the coach of the Lamar Cardinals basketball team on April 5, 2011, but was fired on February 16, 2014. He was previously the head coach of the Texas Tech Red Raiders men's basketball team until March 7, 2011. Prior to that, he served in other coaching, administrative and scouting capacities with the NBA, United States Basketball League, International Basketball Association, NCAA, and CBA teams. 2009–10 South Dakota Coyotes Men's Basketball Team
The 2009–10 South Dakota Coyotes men's basketball team represented the University of South Dakota in the 2009–10 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Coyotes were led by head coach Dave Boots in his 22nd year leading the team. South Dakota played their home games at the DakotaDome in Vermillion, South Dakota, as members of the Great West Conference. The Coyotes finished conference play with an 11–1 record and won the Great West Conference regular season title. As the top seed in the Great West tournament, South Dakota won two games, culminating in a 91-86 victory over to win the Great West tournament championship. As a recently formed conference, the Great West Conference was not eligible for an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. The 2009–10 Stanford Cardinal men's basketball team represented Stanford University during the 2009–10 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Cardinal were led by second year head coach Johnny Dawkins, and played their home games at Maples Pavilion as a member of the Pacific-10 Conference. The 2009–10 Wichita State Shockers men's basketball team represented Wichita State University in the 2009–10 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team, which plays in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC), was led by third-year head coach Gregg Marshall. The Shockers were preseason rank #77 in Rivals.com's Preseason 1-347 Rankings. The Big 12/Pac-10 Hardwood Series was a four-year series of NCAA Division I men's college basketball games matching teams from the Big 12 Conference and the Pac-10 Conference. Started in 2007 and concluding in 2010, it was primarily a way to guarantee top flight competition for both conferences and garner more recognition for the level of play of both leagues in basketball. This series mirrored the ACC–Big Ten Challenge. There was a "designated" four-day window for the main part of the series matchups and a few other matchups in November and late December.
