Paulo Bento
Paulo Jorge Gomes Bento (; born 20 June 1969) is a Portuguese football manager and former player. A defensive midfielder with tackling ability and workrate as his main assets, he played for two of the major three teams in his country, amassing Primeira Liga totals of 284 matches and 16 goals over 11 seasons, and also spent four years in Spain. He represented the Portuguese national team in the 2002 World Cup and Euro 2000. Bento took up a coaching career in 2005, managing Sporting CP for four years and four months, with relative success, and won a Super League Greece title with Olympiacos. He managed the national teams of his country and South Korea for four years apiece, taking each team to a World Cup and continental tournament. Captain (association Football)
The team captain of an association football team, sometimes known as the skipper, is a team member chosen to be the on-pitch leader of the team; they are often one of the older or more experienced members of the squad, or a player that can heavily influence a game or has good leadership qualities. The team captain is usually identified by the wearing of an armband. Responsibilities The only official responsibility of a captain specified by the Laws of the Game is to participate in the coin toss prior to kick-off (for choice of ends or to have kick-off) and prior to a penalty shootout. Contrary to what is sometimes said, captains have no special authority under the Laws to challenge a decision by the referee. João Pereira (footballer, Born 1984)
João Pedro da Silva Pereira (born 25 February 1984) is a Portuguese former professional footballer who played mainly as a right-back. An attacking wingback, he was also known for his fiery temperament that led to altercations with adversary players and referees numerous times. In his country, he represented both Benfica and Sporting CP, amassing Primeira Liga totals of 232 matches and nine goals and winning the 2005 national championship with the former. He also spent two and a half seasons in Spain with Valencia and four in Turkey with Trabzonspor, winning the 2019–20 Turkish Cup before returning to Sporting in February 2021, where he again won the domestic league. Yannick Djaló
Yannick dos Santos Djaló (born 5 May 1986) is a Portuguese professional footballer who plays mainly as a forward but also as a winger. He played most of his professional career with Sporting after reaching the club's youth system at the age of 15, going on to appear in more than 150 official games and win four major titles. He moved to Benfica in 2012, and won the Portuguese League Cup that year, but totalled only five appearances in 4 years, spending most of his time out on loan. Djaló earned 22 caps for Portugal at youth level, and made his only senior appearance in 2010. Leandro Damián Marcelo Grimi (born 9 February 1985) is an Argentine professional footballer who plays as a left-back. Tiago Ferreira (footballer, Born 1975)
Tiago Alexandre Baptista Ferreira (born 16 April 1975), known simply as Tiago, is a Portuguese former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper, and the goalkeeper coach of Sporting CP. Playing career Born in Torres Vedras, Lisbon District, Tiago spent almost all of his career in Sporting CP. There, he successfully battled for first-choice status with Belgian international Filip De Wilde (1996–98), being loaned to C.F. Estrela da Amadora for two years during Peter Schmeichel's stint at the club. Matías Fernández (footballer, Born 1986)
Matías Ariel Fernández Fernández (, born 15 May 1986) is a Chilean professional footballer who plays for Deportes La Serena as an attacking midfielder. He is known for his dribbling skills, also being a free kick specialist. After starting out at Colo-Colo, he spent several seasons with Villarreal, Sporting CP and Fiorentina, having moved to Europe in 2006. He also played professionally in Mexico and Colombia. Marco António Simões Caneira (born 9 February 1979) is a Portuguese former professional footballer. Preferably a central defender, he was equally at ease on the right or left flank. A youth graduate at Sporting CP, he started his career at the club, also appearing briefly for Benfica in his country, and represented Valencia in La Liga for a couple of years before returning to Sporting. Simon Vukčević (Serbian Cyrillic: Симон Вукчевић, ; born 29 January 1986) is a Montenegrin former footballer who played as an attacking midfielder. Carlos Miguel Mondim Saleiro (born 25 February 1986) is a Portuguese former professional footballer who played as a forward. The first baby in Portugal to be born through in vitro fertilisation treatment (IVF), he began his career at Sporting CP. He played for Sporting B in the 2003–04 season, and won caps at every level of Portuguese international football from under-17 to under-23.
