2009–10 Liga Bet
The 2009–10 Liga Bet season was the first season since the 1998–99 Liga Bet season, in which Liga Bet regained its status as the fourth tier of Israeli football, due to the closure of Liga Artzit. Ahi Acre (champions of the North A division), Hapoel Daliyat al-Karmel (champions of the North B division), Maccabi Kabilio Jaffa (champions of the South A division) and Bnei Eilat (champions of the South B division) won the title and promotion to Liga Alef. The clubs ranked 2nd to 5th in each division entered a promotion play-off, at the end of which, in the North section Hapoel Ramot Menashe Megido won against Hapoel Bnei Jadeidi from Liga Alef North and was promoted to Liga Alef, while in the South section, Ironi Ramla lost to Shimshon Bnei Tayibe from Liga Alef South and failed to gain promotion. Liga Bet
Liga Bet ( he, ליגה ב', lit. ''League B'') is the fourth tier of the Israeli football league system. It is divided into four regional divisions. History League football started in Israel in 1949–50, a year after the Israeli Declaration of Independence. However, the financial and security crises gripping the young nation caused the 1950–51 season to be abandoned before it had started. When football resumed in 1951–52, the new top division went by the name of Liga Alef with Liga Bet as the second division. The 1952–53 season was also not played, and Liga Bet resumed in 1953–54. In the 1955–56 season, Liga Leumit came into existence as the new top division, with Liga Alef becoming the second division and Liga Bet demoted to the third division. Restructuring in 1976 saw the creation of Liga Artzit as a new second tier, and the second demotion of Liga Bet, as it became the fourth division. 2010–11 Liga Gimel
The 2010–11 Liga Gimel season saw 92 clubs competing in 6 regional divisions for promotion to Liga Bet. F.C. Bu'eine (Upper Galilee), F.C. Daburiyya (Jezreel), Hapoel Baqa al-Gharbiyye (Samaria), F.C. Tira (Sharon), Gadna Tel Aviv (Tel Aviv) and Maccabi Be'er Ya'akov (Central) all won their respective divisions and were promoted to Liga Bet. During the summer, as several vacancies were created in Liga Bet, runners-up F.C. Bnei Arraba (Upper Galilee), Maccabi Ein Mahil (Jezreel) and Hapoel Hod HaSharon (Sharon) were also promoted to Liga Bet. Upper Galilee Division During the season, Hapoel Halat al-Sharif Tamra, Maccabi Bnei Nahf (both after 1 match) and Maccabi Sha'ab (after 8 matches) folded and their results were annulled. The 2009–10 Liga Alef season was the first season since the 1998–99 Liga Alef season, in which Liga Alef regained its status as the third tier of Israeli football, due to the closure of Liga Artzit. The third tier, Liga Artzit was scrapped at the end of the season, making Liga Bet the fourth tier. Hapoel ( he, הפועל, lit. ''the worker'') is an Israeli Jewish sports association established in 1926 by the Histadrut Labor Federation. History During the British Mandate of Palestine period Hapoel had a bitter rivalry with Maccabi and organized its own competitions, with the exception of football, the only sport in which all the organizations played each other. At the time, Hapoel took no part in the ''Eretz Israel Olympic Committee'', which was controlled by Maccabi, and instead sought for international ties with similar workers sports organizations of socialist parties. Liga Gimel ( he, ליגה ג', lit. ''League C'') is the fifth and bottom division of Israeli Football League, a position it has held since 2009. From Liga Alef and downwards to this, each league is separated by region as well. History Liga Gimel was first established in 1951 as a third division, below Liga Alef and Liga Bet. In 1955, after designating the first tier as Liga Leumit, Liga Gimel was demoted to the fourth tier. Further demotions followed in 1976, after the second tier Liga Artzit to the fifth tier and in 1999, after the establishment of Liga Ha'Al to the sixth tier. At the end of the 2008–09 season, Liga Artzit was scrapped and Liga Gimel was brought up back to the fifth tier.
